Once upon a time two little owls, Flip and Flop, lived with their parents in a forest.
One day an eagle appeared in the sky. He was flying above the forest looking for something to eat. At some time he saw the two little owls climbing on an oak tree. The owl parents were not there, because they went to the forest to find food for themselves and for their children. Before they left, they told the little owls to play nicely in their nest and wait until they are back.
When their parents left, Flip and Flop started feeling uneasy and after a little while they got out of the nest to go and find their friend, the deer.
They found an oak tree and started climbing up and calling the deer
- Deer, deer! Come to play with us!
- I am coming little owls to play with you, said the deer, wait for me!
A voice from the sky was heard:
- I am coming little owls to eat you, wait for me! said the eagle from above.
At that moment the little owls realized that they were in danger and they went quickly in the small cavity of the oak tree. The eagle tried to get in the cavity, but he was too big.
Just right then, the deer came to the tree and kicked the eagle with his horns! The eagle flew away.
The little owls and their parents went happily to their nest. Flip and Flop realized that they got in trouble because they didn’t do as their parents told them. As for the deer, he proved to be a real friend!
...and they lived happily ever after...
