“Dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening;
love like there's no tomorrow and be you; the best you can be.” Tani Adams

This book is dedicated to my husband, my children, my family, and all my llama friends near and far. Without your support, patience, encouragement, and the life lessons shared through the years, I would not be writing these stories about Llama-Llama Tutu today. I sometimes wonder what my life would be like without my personal experiences around llamas and alpacas. You have given me a lifetime of splendid memories. Thank you so much for the journey we have shared together.

Llama-Llama Tutu takes a Vacation
Written and Illustrated by Tani Adams

Llama-Llama Tutu is
taking a vacation.
Far across the ocean,
Far across the sea...

Far from her home,
the farm,
and her family.
Before she heads out on her much-needed trip,
she will need to pack a few things.
I hope she has an idea of what needed things to bring.

Packing for the trip
Llama-Llama Tutu
Gathers up her things…
A suit for swimming, sunglasses,
a hat, a bucket and shovel,
a cup…
A couple of tutus in case
one should get dirty or wet.
Some snacks for the plane ride,
a book, and a magazine to read.

Llama-Llama Tutu stops to think to herself,
“Hum, am I forgetting anything?”
Oh yes! Now I remember what else I need!
My favorite checkered blanket,
my toothbrush, and my very special buddy,
“Mr. Red.” I take that silly rooster everywhere with me!
Oh, most importantly,
a suitcase or two to carry everything!”

Llama-Llama Tutu
says “I hope it all will fit!”

The bus driver picks up Llama-Llama Tutu
and her friend from the farm.
They are heading to the airport.
Mr. Red is so excited to fly!
He bursts out loud,
“COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO!”

Suitcases are all checked in at the gate.
They are on time and they are not late!
Heading to a tropical destination.
Going on a far, far away vacation!

Llama-Llama Tutu finds a seat with a view, Mr. Red looks out the window. Wow, what a beautiful view! From way up here the world below looks like Llama-Llama Tutu's
checkered blanket.

The pilot announces,
“I hope you have enjoyed the flight.
We will be landing soon, so fasten your seatbelts and hold on tight!"

After landing on the island,
a tour bus is waiting at the airport when they arrive and drives Llama-Llama Tutu and Mr. Red to the resort.

The air smells like a fruit salad
made with a variety
of fresh fruit.
Tropical fruit like bananas,
coconuts, pineapple, mangos, and kiwi.

The island is very beautiful
with so many places to explore, so many people to meet!
Where should they go? What should they see?
Visit the aquarium or head down to the beach?

Llama-Llama Tutu and Mr. Red will go to the Aquarium.
They are excited to see the fish!
To see all the colorful fish of this tropical island!
Look at all the pretty tropical fish. There are so many fish to see!
Some of the fish are red, yellow, orange, blue and green.
Look at all the little fish swimming in and around the seaweed.

It is big, blue and has very sharp teeth!
There is something in the seaweed.
What kind of fish could it be?
A Shark!
It was a big blue shark hiding behind the seaweed!
The shark was playing a game of Hide-and-Seek!
He was hiding quietly from all the little fish.
The shark calls out, "All-e-all come free!"
That is what you say when it is safe
to come out from hiding.

Llama-Llama Tutu heads down the trail
to the beach.
Mr. Red says, “Hey, wait for me!”

Llama-Llama Tutu is so excited
to walk on the beach,
to have the sand sift between her toes,
to play by the sea;
as the salty sea air tickles her nose.

Floating on the waves,
floating in the sea...

Sipping on ice cold lemonade,
on the beach is so relaxing!

Llama-Llama Tutu thinks to herself,
“Surfing big waves looks like fun!
Maybe I can try, maybe I will…Hum?”

This is Bahama Llama. He is a surfer dude!
Bahama Llama says,
“You can do this Llama-Llama Tutu…
You can surf just like me!
I will teach you to surf! I am the SURFING KING!

Bahama Llama says, " Okay here comes a big wave!
Now it's your turn to be brave!"

Hooray!
Llama-Llama Tutu was brave!
She was not afraid.
She did it! She did it!
She stood up and was riding
her very first wave!

Time to head back to the resort.
It has been a fun day!
Time to eat dinner, then time to hit the hay.
Maybe tomorrow we can try surfing again.

Llama-Llama Tutu and Mr. Red wave goodbye as the time has come to leave.
Time to head back to the farm and her family.
She had fun exploring the sights, like the resort and the aquarium, but she will always remember her time at the beach, learning to surf with Bahama Llama, the surfing king!
As the bus drives away, you can hear her say,
“I am sad we must go, but I am glad we came!
This place will always be my favorite vacation destination!
Goodbye my friend, Bahama Llama.
Hope to see you again!
THE
END

About the Author: Tani (TAW-NEE) Adams
I have lived in the Pacific Northwest most of my life. For many years I was a volunteer who served as a 4-H Club leader in my community. My daughter's interest in raising alpacas was the reason I found out about the 4-H program. Our family started raising llamas and alpacas in 2009 and by 2012 we had 4 llamas and 9 alpacas. During this time I had the opportunity to meet the most amazing circle of people, whom shared my interest in raising healthy, happy, and gentle camelids. Through the years, most of my time was spent chaperoning 4-H events, and most of the events were held during the spring and summer season. I can say that I spent many hours hanging out with my girls in the livestock barns and the show rings. I spent many of my vacation hours camped out at the fairgrounds during show season. I hope one day to go venture on a tropical island and relax in the sand on a beach by the sea, drinking ice cold lemonade. I might even try surfing or snorkeling on the coral reefs swimming with colorful tropical fish, just like Llama-Llama Tutu and Mr. Red!

This story is about a sweet little llama who needs a vacation. She has been working so hard on the farm watching over the little ones. She says goodbye to her friends at the farm. She is taking her companion Mr. Red and they will set out on vacation to a tropical destination and maybe make a new friend. Llama-Llama Tutu is very excited and wants to explore , but mostly she wants to relax on a tropical beach; drink ice cold lemonade and dig her toes in the sand! Wouldn't you?
