Hello.
My name is Faraya.
I am a Syrian boy. Have you ever tried to look at the world through my eyes? We came here as an exile from our homeland. My mom and my 6 siblings are together. And I have an old grandfather. His name is Abdullah. My father died in the war. My country was not in a position to live. We escaped and came to Turkey.

It's not just Turkey. We have relatives who are going to Azerbaijan. We have scattered to many countries. We are stateless. We don't even have a flag to hug anymore. We have found ourselves new homelands and flags. New countries, new lives...

We have a new life now, too. But our financial situation is not very good. We get various benefits. Now, I am 25 years old. Also I'm working. I work in a stationery store until the evening I leave school. My boss Ahmet is a young man. I'll make tea, clean up and get my things. But this is not my ideal. I have other things on my mind. I've always wanted to be a fireman. But I have no idea what I should do. I decided to do a bit of research. Now

I've been on the internet for a while. First I got acquainted with how things are done and his profession. I've reviewed the photos. But it wasn't enough for me to do what I was doing. I should have been better informed. I decided to talk to my class teacher. I asked him to find himself at recess and take me to the fire department. If my teacher had refused, I would have begged her. But I didn't have to. Appointments were arranged and we went to the fire department to visit. When we got there, the big hangar door opened and they invited us in. and it happened...Red is the big gigantic vehicles...

It was more beautiful than I had imagined. They were all standing right in front of me. Yes, I was going to lend a hand to people in distress. Just as a hand took me out of war, I would also help all living things through fires. It was a big dream for me, but now I knew my goal.
And all I know right now is tomorrow will be better for me...

One day, while I was working, the sirens started to sound. I was excited. A fire
started in the neighborhood.
We need tomove very fast. Will
the fire be extinguished
without harming people and
other living things?

First the building was evacuated. Then we took a breath looking at each other with Uncle Muhammet. He said here lived Syrian families. Some cried for the belongings that burned. I knew that they didn't cry for the money or gold they had. Instead they cried for everything they had such as their babies' clothes, maybe a few forks, spoons, plates and their only carpets etc. While it doesn't make sense for anybody, it does for us from Syria who were the king of their families and jobs once upon a time and who are the slave-like living people now. I wished them to encounter with precious people like my teacher and took my uncle to our house.

Luckly the resque teams and AFAD were there. They took us to a tent and applied first aid. The smoke affected us and we were feeling bad and scared. They were so kind to us. They told us we can stay there until we are safe.

We stayed in the tent for a while and then everybody went their homes. I stayed with Uncle Muhammed and talked about our old lives in Syria. We mentioned our memories, childhood, the meaning of life and a person's country,People were saved from the fire but they were upset. The municipality did something for them. They found homes and hired the young people as employees in some of the companies. I was happy with my job and proud of myself. I could sleep in relief.
