WHAT IS EASTER?
EASTER:It is the annual Christian commemoration of the Passion of Christ, that is, the entrance to Jerusalem, the Last Supper, the Stations of the Cross, the death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. It is the sixth and last week of Lent from Palm Sunday to sunset on Holy Thursday, between sunset on Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday, called the Easter Triduum. Therefore, it is a period of intense liturgical activity within the various Christian confessions. It begins with Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday, although its celebration usually begins in various places on the previous Friday (Friday of Sorrows).

EASTER TRADITIONS IN OUR COUNTRY
Catalonia, la mona: In Catalonia it is a tradition that on Easter Monday the godparents or grandparents give their godchildren or grandchildren a cake crowned by a giant chocolate egg or with a figurine made of chocolate that represents a popular character.

EASTER TRADITIONS IN OUR COUNTRY
Vella Quaresma is the graphic representation of the Lenten season, which runs from Ash Wednesday to Easter. The penitential period, within the Catholic liturgy, is a time of fasting and abstinence, which is popularly called "fer magre" or eating on the vigil. Everything is an ascetic preparation for Easter.

EASTER HOLIDAYS
This year our Easter holidays are from 8th to 19th of April. Easter holidays depend on the Moon. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the Full Moon date , based on mathematical calculations, that falls on or after March 21st. If the Full Moon is on a Sunday, Easter is celebrated on the following Sunday.
