Let's have a look at 3 very important sites, which are very popular in the south east of Spain, in Catalonia. See the number of kilometres we have to get them from Mollerussa, our hometown.
Montserrat Mountains, near Barcelona (95,6 km),
Cathedral of St. Mary of la Seu Vella, in Lleida (27,5 km)
Ivars i Vilasana Pond (9,1 km)
We'll finish our route very far away from home, in La Alhambra, in Granada, 855 km away from Mollerussa, which is a very cherished place too.
Montserrat Mountain

Montserrat es un macizo rocoso considerado tradicionalmente la montaña más importante y significativa de Cataluña (España).
It is well known as the site of the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat, which hosts the Virgin of Montserrat sanctuary. The word MONT means «mountain» and SERRAT means «serrated» in Catalan.
Cathedral of St. Mary of la Seu Vella
The Cathedral of St. Mary of la Seu Vella is the former cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lleida, in Lleida, Catalonia, Spain, located on top of Lleida hill. In 1707, the Gothic cathedral was turned into a military citadel by decision of King Philip V of Spain. The new cathedral, located downhill at Carrer Major, was consecrated in 1781.
The cathedral is the defining monument of Lleida, the symbol of the city, being visible from its hilltop site anywhere in the city.
Estany d'Ivars i Vila-Sana
The IVARS I VILA-SANA POND was created when the Urgell Canal was built, during the middle of the 19th century. The purpose of the canal was to take water to the plains of Urgell to convert it into an irrigated area, and the pond served as a water reserve in the event of drought. Yet, In 1951, the pond was dried up to make it into farmland against the wishes of the majority of the inhabitants of the surrounding villages and towns. By the 1990s Ivars Council decided to reclaim it and got into a viability study for its regeneration. Nowadays, it is an ideal spot for recreational activities and has become a site of significant biological wealth, especially with birds and riverside vegetation.
