THE LANDSCAPE THAT MAKES THE ENVIRONMENTAL DIVER CRY!
Waste spilled by unknown persons on the seashore in Eynesil district on the Giresun-Trabzon border, the northern cities of the Türkiye, causes environmental pollution. Amateur diver Engin Barutçu (60), who started an individual struggle to collect the waste he noticed during the dive, said, "I noticed it 1 month ago when I was diving in the sea. I couldn't control my tears at the sight. On the same day, I made a verbal and written application to related institutions." There is no institution left that can be said that we were not informed, but despite this, I did not get any results," he said.

Waste that people throw into the environment harms the environment. There are many photos like this in the project called “Birds and Garbage” supported by the European Union. The project aims to understand and demonstrate the impact of all our waste, especially plastic, on birds. People upload the photos they take to the project's website. The scientists at the beginning of the project say that the photographs often show birds that have become attached to objects such as ropes, fishing lines and face masks or have built their nests in these objects.

Researcher Alex Bond is working on this project at the Natural History Museum in London. "If a bird's nest uses long fiber materials such as moss or tree branches, it's very likely that it will contain plastic,” says Bond.
“When you start to study this problem, you realize that it is the same all over the world. Plastic pollution is a global problem. We are being sent photos from many places in Japan, Australia, Sri Lanka, England and North America.”

Our world is getting polluted day by day, and that's why sometimes forests and sometimes living things hurt. Now people are looking for a solution for this problem.
Clean Country, Beautiful Country. Here Are the Measures Taken By Some Countries.
BasNews- According to the world air Chewing gum is prohibited in some countries.
Islands, Sweden and Finland. We should recycle non-garbage items.
Puerto Rico, New Caledonia, the US Virgin Saving products are sold.
End Environmental Pollution !!!

If we want to reclaim nature, we also need to know about recycling.
Plastic = Will disappear in at least 1000 years.
Battery = will be destroyed in 300 years.
Glass = will disappear in 3500 years.
Metal = Will disappear in 100 years.
Paper = will disappear after 2-5 months.

Waste that the Bartın River dragged into the heavy rain in Bartın, caused pollution on the coast of Inkumu.
Due to the downpour in Bartın last week, a large number of plastic bottles, pickle cans, wood chips and medical waste were drifted in to the sea.
With effect of the waves, the wastes carries to the 3- kilometer Inkumu coastline caused pollution.
Garbage on the beach was collected by constraction equipment and munipical cleaners and taken to the solid waste storage area.

The danger of mucilage, which invaded and heavily affected the marine ecosystem of the Marmara Sea last summer.Mucilage is a jelly-like layer of slime that develops on the surface of the water due to the excessive proliferation of microscopic plants called phytoplankton, threatening the marine biome gravely. There are three main factors in the pollution of the Marmara Sea. Global warming, structural features of the sea and pollution. The main sources of the pollutants are urban wastewater, industrial wastes and inconvenient agricultural practices.
Istanbul’s share in the pollution of the Sea of Marmara is 72 percent. It is not possible to solve this [pollution in the sea] without solving the problem in Istanbul. The sea says, ‘I am polluted.’ If the pollution load continues, the sea will be oxygen-free.

The Skouries Project
Mining provides metals, stone, coal, gas and minerals that help us make a lot of products that we use in everyday life. However, there are a lot of dangers when mining the Earth. It releases toxic gas and liquid that pollute the air,the soil and water.
Skouries is an open-pit-mine of gold and copper that is located near our city,in the Chalkidiki peninsula in northern Greece and causes serious environmental problems. The toxic liquid runs into the sea and kills sealife. The rivers, lakes and streams that are sources drinking water nearby are contaminated.Animals lose their natural habitat , crops die and people suffer from health problems.

Farming
Our area has a lot of valleys and plains that people cultivate to produce, wheat, corn, tobacco, cotton and vegetables.Farming is an ancient employment in Greece but it causes environmental problems as well.
Pesticides and fertilizers pollute the air,the land and water. They release poisonous gas and liquid that cause health problems to people and threaten the animals.Drinking water sources such as rivers and lakes are poisoned and the soil becomes infertile.

Sea Pollution
Our country has the longest coastline in the Mediterranean Sea..Our city is situated on Thermaikos Gulf and near the Chalkidiki peninsula that has a lot of beautiful beaches. One of the greatest environmental problem in our area is water pollution.
The Gulf is polluted mainly by sewage and littering. There is a biological wastewater treatment but it is not enough.Too much littering kills sealife and fishermen can’t fish in the Gulf.In the summer there is sometimes a nasty smell. Some beaches in Chalkidiki gather a lot of rubbish when the wind blows. The waves carry plastic bags, aluminium cans and glass bottles from the ocean.

Littering
Littering is a main problem in Greece. There is litter on the streets of big cities and landfills are full of trash. In my area there is litter in parks and street everywhere.
People litter streets and open spaces every day. They may be careless or just lazy and throw all kinds of rubbish. When you walk in a city street you can find chewing gums, plastic bottles, broken glass, food scraps etc. A study finds that tourists also litter and leave behind two kilos of trash.

Litter is bad for people, animals and the natural environment. It can cause serious health problems to humans and damage waterways. There are more than 22 billion cigarette butts thrown every year on Greek streets. 40 percent of them ends up in the sea.

Wildfires

Seih Sou forest in Thessaloniki
Wildfires have been a big problem in Greece for the last 20 years. In 1997 a large fire broke out and burned 55 % of the forest Seih Sou in our area. In 2007 4,5 million of olive trees and 60.000 thousand animals died in south Greece because of fires. The fires burned 2.700 km2 of land most of it forests. In 2021 hundreds of fires broke out in our country and burned 125.000 hectares of land..
There are natural causes like lightning, heatwave and volcanic eruption but humans cause 90 per cent of fires. Careless smoking, arson, campfires, burning of debris and rubbish are main causes of forest fires. Fires burn thousands of trees and destroy animals’ habitat. Smoke, methane and carbon dioxide goes into the atmosphere and can damage people’s health and cause breathing problems. After a wildfire there can be floods after a heavy rain.

Air Pollution
Air Pollution is a major problem in our country. The quality of air is not very good mostly in big cities like my city Thessaloniki. Greece was the 36th most polluted country of the world in 2019.
There are natural causes such as dust storms, volcanic eruptions but human activity is the main cause of air pollution in big cities. Factories, power plants, car exhaust fumes, methane gas from landfills and the use of spray cans pollute the air and cause smog. This is a type of air pollution that looks like fog and makes it hard to see.

Air pollution and smog are bad for our health. People are likely to get sick of lung cancer, heart disease and have breathing problems like asthma. Smog is also very dangerous especially for children who live in the cities.
