There was once a little 

girl called Melanie. She 

was ten years old. She 

wasn't very good at 

Maths or Language.

But Melanie was very 

good at sports. Her 

friends didn't know that 

she was so talented 

because she was very 

shy and modest. 

She played in the volleyball 

team at school. She 

trained very hard but she 

always sat on the bench 

during competitions. 

The volleyball team was 

really   good and they reached 

the finals of the local 

championship.During the 

game, one of her friends 

sprained her ankle and 

somebody had to replace her!

Melanie's coach asked her 

to play. She was really 

scared.

At first, she played badly 

because she was very 

nervous, but then she said:'I 

can do it. I'll help my team 

and we'll win!'

Melanie was so confident 

that she scored three goals 

and her team won the cup. 

Melanie and her friends 

were very happy!
