Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, in a far away
beautiful perfect land there lived a beautiful perfect
princess. The land was called the Serein Kingdom and its
princess’ name was Athena. Athena was beautiful and perfect but
not in the way everyone else thought. She was beautiful and perfect
at heart – kind, loving, compassionate and generous. However, she was
quite unhappy as she had no friends.

She was mocked
a lot for being
overweight. Her
friends thought
she was ugly
because she was
fat. But they did
not notice the sky
in her eyes, the
roses in her
round cheeks
and the sun in
her Blonde hair.
Pappa told her
she had the voice
of a lark, Momma
always said
when Athena
smiled, the stars
shone in her
eyes.

Anyway, it boiled down to Athena’s best friend being her cat Bobby McGue.
Athena had lots of dreams, like girls her age. Athena dreamt that one day she
would meet her Prince Charming, they would fall in love and live happily ever
after, as all good fairy tales go. But even though Athena had everything she
wanted; a big pink room, a pet cat and being homed-schooled, she was still
scared and upset that these dreams would never come true for her.

One day, King Applebottom, Athena’s Pappa, requested an audience with
Athena, Athena's Momma; Queen Laqueesh and all His Ministers, at the
enormous meeting room on the ground floor of their gigantic castle. King
Applebottom announced that he had found a young prince, Prince Jaspar to
marry Athena.

Oh my! Yay!!
\
.

Princess Athena was taken aback to hear this but she was very excited. She
laughed and the sound of bells tinkled through the enormous meeting room.
Her laugh was so infectious, it had all the Ministers laughing out loud too.
Everyone was in high spirits as the entire kingdom loved their young princess
and thought the world of her. Only young girls her age, did not think much of
her looks. But then, they hadn’t taken the time to get to know her lovely
character.

After everyone had left, Pappa and Momma told Athena wonderful things
about Prince Jaspar, like the dragons he had slayed, forests he had walked
through, his favourite pie and so on. Athena was thrilled! What if Prince
Jaspar were her Prince Charming!

The morning of Prince
Jaspar's Royal Visit
dawned bright and
clear. It was as if the
world was in tune
with Athena’s joy.
Daffodils, roses
bloomed outside her
window. The cool
breezes blew lavender
scents. And the sun...
the sun smiled down
all day. Trumpets
blared to announce
the entrance of Prince
Jaspar, and his
parents King Weegee
and Queen
Montgomery into the
Royal Courtroom.

Hands trembling with excitement, eyes sparkling, Athena quickly changed
into a lovely, blue gown. She proceeded cautiously to the Royal Courtroom.
When Athena walked in, she saw the Prince and could not contain her
excitement.

Sorry...She rushed up to him and
introduced herself, “Hello,
my name is Athena!” It’s
so nice to meet you Prince
Jaspar.” A frown
appeared on Prince
Jasper's face. Athena was
confused. Why did Prince
Jaspar have such a weird
look on his face? Prince
Jaspar grabbed Princess
Athena’s hand and led her
outside the Royal
Courtroom. “Look Athena,
I do not want to get
married to you. You are
ugly and fat and I do not
like you! Sorry.” He then
turned around and swiftly
walked back into the
Royal Courtroom.

Poor Princess
Athena was
heartbroken. Worse
still, she felt her
worst nightmare
was coming true. He
had never got to
know her and
disliked her because
of her looks. She
made a right-about
turn, held her head
high, and walked
back to her
bedroom. It was all
she could do to not
burst into tears
there and then. She
fell onto her bed
and cried her sad
heart out.

She cried as if her heart would break. She cried until she had no tears left.
Then, she got up, washed her face, brushed her hair and made a decision.
She was still heartbroken that people thought she was ugly and fat. Feeling
sick at heart and totally fed up that even someone as smart and good as
Prince Jaspar thought this, she wondered what do to.

"Krysilla!"
“Krysilla! I can ask
Aunt Krysilla.”
Athena yelled all of
a sudden. Krysilla
was Queen
Laqueesh’s sister.
Aunt Krysilla was
not one of those
princesses who
waited to get
married to a great
prince. She had
always wanted to be
a career woman
much to her
parents’, Athena’s
grandparents’
dismay. Krysilla
went to The School
of Witchery and
studied to become a
great witch.

Now, one had to be clever to gain entry into these schools and
Krysilla was an intelligent young woman in those times. She had
now made it big and was a famous witch. Athena looked up to her
aunt and always went to her for good sound advice.

Athena put on her long brown coat and headed for Aunt Krisillas house. She
knocked on her door, “Aunt Krisilla? It’s Athena. I really need your help.” A
cheerful Krisilla opened the door, “Hi Athena! What a nice surprise. Come
inside.” Athena begged her Aunt to cast a spell that could make her slim and
pretty. Krisilla was shocked to hear such a thing coming from her sensible
niece’s mouth but she took one look at Athena’s tear stained face and agreed
to do the spell. However there was a catch as is always the case with any
spell as with all good fairy tales.

“Apoorita Capoorita!” Krisilla chanted, as she waved her wand around
Athena’s head. Within seconds, Athena transformed into a beautiful, slim
princess who was too small for her clothes. “Athena, beware that you have
only 24 hours to do what you will. After that the spell will disappear and you
will return to your old beautiful self. But Athena..
A True Love’s Kiss will make your Heart Soar
and This Spell will Last Forever More."

“Ok Thank you so much
Aunty Krisilla”, and with
that, Athena planted a kiss
on her aunt’s cheek and ran
back to the castle before the
sun could set.
The people of the land were
shocked to see the new
Princess Athena. Some did
not even recognize Princess
Athena. The older villagers
grumbled that they thought
the old Athena was as
beautiful, if not more than
this new princess. Only her
so-called friends frolicked
around her, exclaiming at
her size 8 figure and her
gorgeous looks. But Athena
ignored them all. She had a
mission to accomplish and
time was running out.

Athena spent the whole day
trying to find Prince Jaspar
but it turned out Prince
Jaspar was out exploring the
local markets and eating
places.
By 7pm that night, Princess
Athena was in a state of near
panic – She had only an hour
to show Prince Jaspar that
she had changed and had
become pretty and slim.
Then, she heard trumpets
blare announcing Prince
Jaspar’s arrival. By the time
she found him in the gigantic
castle – he was in his
chambers - she had 10
minutes left. Athena knocked
frantically on the door to his
bedroom chamber.

Prince Jasper opened the
door and reeled back in
surprise at the
transformation in Princess
Athena. “Come on in!” he
said, still in shock,
flustered by this sudden
turn of events. Princess
Athena and Prince Jaspar
spent exactly 10 minutes
talking to each other and
getting to know one
another. As with all good
fairy tales, as with the
story of another princess
Athena knew, Princess
Cinderella, when the huge
clock on the castle’s Watch
Tower struck 12 midnight,
Athena became her old not-
so-great-looking self.

But Athena was too busy
chatting with the Prince to
realize what had
happened. Of course, the
only person who knew
was Prince Jaspar. But
surprisingly he didn’t say
anything.
Seconds became minutes,
minutes became hours.
Time flew by as Prince
Jaspar and Princess
Athena chatted, laughed
and sang the whole night
away and Prince Jaspar
still had not told Athena
that the spell had broken.
As the first rays of the sun
shone over the balcony,
Prince Jaspar saw the sun
in Athena’s hair.

As the pink dawn
spread across the sky,
he saw the pink roses in
Athena’s cheeks. As the
birds chirped and larks
sang, he heard this in
Athena’s laugh. And as
he gazed into her eyes,
he saw the blue of the
summer sky over the
balcony and he realized
he had fallen in love
with Princess Athena.
He had fallen head-
over-heels in love with
her amazing personality
and believed she was
more beautiful now
then she had been with
the spell.

He planted a kiss on Princess Athena’s lips, which surprised her. Awkwardly
they wished each other a good morning. Athena danced back to her bedroom
chamber with a big smile. What happened after that, is the stuff that good
fairy tales are made of.

I would like to marry Princess Athena!Prince Jaspar told King Applebottom that he had fallen in love with Princess
Athena and agreed to the marriage. Prince Jaspar finally revealed to Athena
that the spell had broken 10 minutes after she had entered his bedroom
chamber and that he really loved her for who she truly was. Athena was
extremely happy, partly because her worst night mare had not come true.
Princess Athena had finally won over her Prince Charming.

A month later, on a wondrous summer day, when the sun was in Athena’s
hair, the sky shone from her eyes, roses bloomed on her cheeks and larks
sang all day, the truly beautiful Princess Athena and her Prince Charming,
Prince Jaspar got married, while their parents and Aunt Krisilla looked on
and blessed them.
The happy couple rode off into the sunset in a golden carriage to Prince
Jaspar's kingdom and lived Happily Ever After.

THE END!
