Leonardo Da Vinci was born in the village of Anchiano in Tuscany, Italy on 15 April 1452. His father, Ser Piero was a lawyer and his mother Caterina was a farmer. Leonardo spent his first five years living in a farmhouse with his mother, who had not married his father. Then he lived at Vinci with his father and

Young da Vinci received little formal education beyond basic reading, writing and mathematics instruction, but he had artistic talents since childhood. Leonardo started painting while he was still a boy. Leonardo was very clever. Very young he painted a round wooden shield with a picture of snakes spitting fire. Leonardo's father took his painting to Florence and sold it to an art dealer.
Chapter 2
Learning in Verrochio's
Workshop
Primary School in Dąbrowica, Poland
In 1466, when Leonardo was 14 , he became a student to the artist Andrea di Cione, known as Verrocchio, whose workshop was "one of the finest in Florence".
He learned a lot from his master, but soon he became a better artist.

It is said, Leonardo collaborated with Verrocchio on his "The Baptism of Christ". Looking closely, you can see places painted using the new technique of oil paint; the landscape, the rocks seen through the brown mountain stream and much of the figure of Jesus.

Verrocchio's influence on Leonardo's work was immense. He was himself a highly respected and creative artist, and his workshop was a cultural centre in Florence. Leonardo learned many painting techniques and styles under his watchful eye.

The Annunciation is considered to be Leonardo's first major work - his large, self-contained painting, which was created while Leonardo was still apprenticed in Verrocchio's workshop.

Chapter 4 Leonardo's Paintings
Manavpınarı Primary School, Türkiye

Mona Lisa, oil painting on a popular wood panel by Leonardo da Vinci, probably the world’s most famous painting. It was painted sometime between 1503 and 1519, when Leonardo was living in Florence, and it now hangs in the Louvre Museum, Paris, where it remained an object of pilgrimage in the 21st century. The sitter’s mysterious smile and her unproven identity have made the painting a source of ongoing investigation and fascination.

Lady with an Ermine is a painting by Leonardo da Vinci, from around 1489-1490. That stunning picture is 40.3 cm wide and 54.8 cm high, oil on walnut board. Unfortunately, the original background has been overlaid probably in the 17th c. The subject of the portrait is identified as Cecilia Gallerani, and was probably painted at a time when she was the mistress of Lodovico Sforza, Duke of Milan and Leonardo was in the service of the Duke.

As an artis and a scientist Leonardo spent a lot of part of his studies to draw the human body. The most famous drawing of Leonardo about human body is "The vetruvian man".

Vetruvio was a roman architech who puts in his work on architecture that the measurements of man are in nature distributed in this manner:
the width of the open arms corresponds to the height of the man.
the human figure can be inscribed in the two perfect figures of the circle and the square.
