One sunny day I was at my cousin’s house. We 

wanted to play outside so we went out and we 

wanted to go to the forest, but suddenly… We fell 

into the huge hole hidden in the ground and… 

We noticed that we were on a road surrounded 

with tall, dark green trees. We were afraid but we 

went on. Suddenly we saw a big house and we 

thought that it is a castle. On the door it was an 

inscription ‘Avalon’. We knocked at it.

A very surprised knight with the silver suit of armour opened 

the door and took us to the king. The king looked at us and 

asked: 

- Who are you and what do you do here? 

- I am Dominik and this is my cousin Adrian. We fell into the 

hole and we arrived at your castle. 

- Did someone see you? 

- No, why do you ask us about it? 

- Because I’m hotly pursued by a sorcerer’s knights. They 

kidnapped my daughter and my wife. 

- We can help you, I suggested. 

- Yes, you can…, but have you got the right clothes to wear?

- No, sir. But maybe we can get something from your 

knights? 

- Wait a minute, I’ll call the knights’ tailor.

The servant came in few minutes. He looked at us and took 

measure. Shortly after, other servants brought us our suits of 

armour. We get changed quickly, and when we were ready, 

the king gave us the map and explained where we should go. 

He told us that the way can be dangerous. We left the castle 

and went through the long bridge over the defensive wall. We 

arrived till the wasteland. It was very dark. Fortunately, I had 

a flashlight in my pocket.

We went into the forest. After few minutes, when we were 

walking between the trees, unexpectedly, a witch appeared. I 

thought that it was all over.. Suddenly, I   recalled something 

I watched in the film: the witches are afraid of fire! I found 

quickly a dry branch and I kindled it with the lighter I had in 

my backpack. I threw the branch towards the witch. She 

disappeared. We could go on.

We walked for a long time then we saw a huge castle. 

We ran up to the door. It was opened. We entered 

slowly. ‘Look, it is horrible here’- I told Adrian. ‘I see but 

let’s find the princess’, answered my terrified cousin. 

‘Good’, I answered. 

The castle was full of cobwebs, spiders, and insects. 

There were a lot of corridors in the castle. We chose one 

of them, the only one in which we heard some voices. 

We walked along it and finally we saw a big table and 

some witches, monsters, and the sorcerer. Adrian 

noticed a key hanging on the wall and we knew that it is 

the dungeon key. I snuck in and took it. We silently 

came down the stairs. There were lots of bars….

We found the princess’s cell. We opened it quickly saying 

who we are and what we are doing here. We ran up the 

stairs. On the way I accidently caught a lever standing 

out of the wall. We fell into the laboratory. We noticed 

the piece of paper on the floor and an inscription on it: 

‘looking on the castle you can see the single tower, 

where the lonely queen is crying’.

We thought about what does it mean, and the princess 

told us, that her mother has been missing for two 

months and there was no trace left of her. Now we knew 

who is in the tower. We found the trapdoor, we opened it 

and went out on the roof. We stood in front of the castle 

and the tower was on the right.

I entered it. Although there were lots of stairs, I climbed 

up quickly. I found the queen and I told her that I know 

her daughter. We both went down and left the tower. 

When the princess greeted her mother, I found another 

piece of paper with the inscription 

‘under the tower there is a treasure… dig deeply…’

There were some spades under the three. We took them 

and started to dig. We did it for a long time. Finally we 

found the coffer with the inscription ‘Avalon’. The 

princess had a key which opened it. Inside there was a 

gold. We closed the treasure, took the coffer and rapidly 

came back to the castle. 

The king was very happy when he saw his wife and his 

daughter. He thanked us for saving them from danger 

and gave us the gold. He knighted us. Then the world 

began to swim spiraling inward, 

and… we were again on the glade.

It was truly incredible adventure. Laying on the grass, 

we told each other: 

‘surely no one will believe us…’
