One day I went for a walk with my grandpa
who is a retired regular soldier. He heard and
saw a lot in his life. I love listening to his
didactic stories. I learned a lot through them.

My grandpa started to say that once upon the
time, far, far away, in a primeval wild forest, on a
little hill was a castle. Actually I should say that it
was a huge and stately castle in which was hidden
a great treasure.
There were seven towers, three drawbridges, a
large courtyard, and maybe a hundred of
chambers in that castle. And each chamber was
more beautiful then the previous one. There was a
ballroom, a library, a playroom, some bedrooms
and many others rooms. You’ll probably need some
weeks to visit everything.

My grandpa was talking so vividly that I wanted to see
the castle with my own eyes. I wanted to be a true
knight and hero. I knew that my grandpa wanted me to
discover that mystery and let him know the ending of
the story he heard many years ago.
Suddenly, I don’t know how, I was staying in front of
the castle gate. The castle seemed to be abandoned. It
was very old, and it was constructed from big stones. Its
windows and door were nailed up by boards and on the
main gate it was an inscription ‘Danger! Keep out!’. In
spite of it I decided to enter.

I was a bit afraid, but what I wouldn’t do for my
granddad? I felt as if I were in a dungeon. There was
no light and there was a strong smell of dampness
inside. Suddenly I saw something shiny. There were
some skeletons in suits of armour. They were holding
axes and spears in their hands.
In the middle of the great chamber there was a throne
recolled by grandpa. On the throne was a big key. It
was so heavy that I hardly could lift it.

I looked around and I saw a door. The key suited the
door so I opened it. I was speechless with joy – in front
of me there were tons of gold.
I was walking and collecting golden coins, but at some
point I didn’t know where to stuff it. I thought that it’s
enough and that I can’t take all that gold with, because
it isn’t mine… And, at this very moment I noticed a
skeleton which was different from others.

It was dressed in a golden suit of armour and it
had got a diamond pick. I touched the tool and
everything turned into gold. There were golden
walls, golden furniture, and even golden food,
which was the worse. I was very hungry and
thirsty…
And suddenly I felt my grandfather’s hand on my
shoulder.
- Are you ok?’, he asked,
- Did you hear me?, Bartek!.

Oh, grandpa, I always listen to you carefully. You
can’t imagine how much I wanted to be a knight
and how much I wanted to know the ending of that
unfinished story.
But now it wasn’t possible, maybe next time my
imagination will discover the whole truth about the
castle.

THE END!
