THIS TEXT IS DEDICATED SUPERSTITIONS AND THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN SLOVENIAN AND SLOVAK PEOPLE.

Once upon a time there lived a girl named Christy who had a very happy life. Everything went well for her and she had many friends. But one day she met a black cat on her way home. According to local legend, this meant bad luck. However, Christy decided not to let the superstition sway her and didn't worry that something bad could happen to her. But the next day…
… the next day became the worst day of her life! Firstly, she forgot to take her snack, so she was hungry. Secondly, she had a very bad argument with her best friend Laura. Later she got a bad grade in English and finally she missed the bus, so she had to walk home alone. It was getting dark and Christy was scared. Suddenly she saw the same cat crossing the street. The cat stopped and looked at Christy. Cat's eyes were shining so bright and friendly that Christy remained calm. She started believing that her situation could be better. And indeed, she met her father on her way home, so they stopped at the restaurant to buy her favourite pizza. When she came home, her friend Laura was waiting for her to apologise and the next day Christy got A from English. So you shouldn't believe in everything that people say.
When black cat does not mean black day

A horseshoe brought me luck
There is a farm near my house. Horses walk around every day which makes me happy because I like horses. One day I went to work in the morning and found a horseshoe. I was very happy and I hung it on the wall in my garage. I was waiting to see what would happen but nothing changed. But a month later…
…a month later I got a letter from my uncle in Canada. I hadn't heard anything about him for a long time! I was very curious so I opened the letter quickly. It was an invitation to Canada. What a surprise! I have always wanted to visit this beautiful country and now I have a chance to go there. I didn't hesitate and replied to my uncle´s letter. So finally the horseshoe brought me luck!

Forecast of the rooster
One dark night when two people in love, Maggie and Scoot were walking around a cemetery after watching a horror film. Suddenly they heard something usual, a rooster crowing. Nothing special, but then they thought about it -“rooster crowing in the middle of the night” . It's a little bit weird, but they didn't care and walked away. The next morning they had breakfast and they started their ordinary day. When they started working, they heard the news on their local radio: “Yesterday - Friday 13 …
Yesterday, Friday the 13th, some people burgled a few graves in a local cemetery, stole precious things and damaged the graves. Maggie and Scot were lucky they hadn't seen these burglars because they could attack and hurt them. Scoot hasn't thought about this accident but Maggie often gets frozen when they walk along this place.

Thomas - the savior
In the charming village of Ravenshire, between rolling hills and ancient oaks, a peculiar superstition cast a shadow on the humble chimney sweepers who always worked hard to keep the fireplaces of the villagers clean. It was said that crossing paths with a chimney sweeper on a foggy morning brought either incredible luck or impending doom.
One misty day, as the sun struggled to pierce through the thick fog, young Thomas, the village chimney sweep, began his routine. Armed with a long brush, he climbed rooftops and disappeared into the labyrinth of chimneys…
… As he was jumping from roof to roof he noticed two young boys playing at the top of the roof. It was very dangerous because it was high and the roof was wet. He ran to warn them. As he was walking towards them one of the boys slipped and he almost fell down but thanks to brave Thomas, the boy stayed alive. People who watched this accident were very grateful to Thomas. Since then the chimney sweeper has been a symbol of good luck.
Just a few bad coincidences
One afternoon I was preparing for a celebration. I wanted to see if I looked good, so I took my mirror. Then I went to put it back on the table. When I was leaving the house, I remembered that I didn't have a gift, so I went back for it. I was really stressed because I was late so…
…so I snagged my coat in the mirror and it fell down. It was broken. I just stood and looked at it. I almost forgot to take my present. A few days later it happened. I was hurrying from school to catch the bus but I missed it. I had to walk home. On my way home I saw my boyfriend kissing the girl I know very well. I was completely broken. The next day I splitted up with him. Was it the mirror which brought me bad luck?
