The program we have chosen aims to introduce our students to the history and cultural heritage of our country. We believe that the value of cultural education at this age is invaluable, as our young students will learn about their cultural heritage and realize that it is an integral part of the life of every people.After all, our future depends on the past!

In particular, through playful activities and creative constructions, we aim for our students to get to know their place and travel back in time by presenting important monuments and objects of the past to our partners.

We browsed through Google Earth, located our city and our school, saw our country and the continent it belongs to. Finally, we located the collaborating schools!

Visit to the Archaeological Museum of Megara

The ancient plagona doll was the exhibit that attracted the children's interest. Outside the museum, we created our own, followed by psychomotor games!

The amphora

Amphorae in ancient Greece were used to store wine or oil. They were decorated with themes drawn from the daily life of the ancient Greeks. We observed various amphorae and talked about their usefulness. Then, we created our own amphorae out of paper.

The monuments of my place Parthenon, Isthmus of Corinth

Activities implemented:
Through educational videos, children learned about the history of the Parthenon, the the features that make up the Parthenon (columns, metopes, pediment, frieze). Also, they learned about the Corinth Canal.

The Isthmus of Corinth

Playful activities were implemented. The children initially used their imagination and created bridges with various classroom materials, while they then "built" their own canal and "crossed" it like large boats with the help of small guide boats.

Czech culture

We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the "Walking on the Paths of the History of Our Place" project. It was a wonderful experience to collaborate with our colleague from Greece and to explore the rich history and cultural heritage of our locations together.

Through engaging activities and creative projects, our children learned not only about history but also gained a deeper appreciation for their cultural roots. We believe that understanding our past is essential for shaping a better future.

This collaboration allowed us to share knowledge, create lasting memories, and discover the unique monuments and stories that define our identities. It was also a great chance for children to build friendships and enrich their lives through new experiences.

Petřkovice Venuse - our famous "Doll"

The Petřkovice Venus is a small prehistoric female figurine and one of the important archaeological finds in the Czech Republic. The children created their own version of the Venus together as part of the activity.

The fossil

Many fossils were found in the Ostrava region during coal mining.
They are about 300 million years old and come from the Carboniferous period, when the area was covered by tropical forests.

Cypriot culture

A unique cross-cultural collaboration between Greece, Cyprus, and the Czech Republic

Our eTwinning project, invites students from Greece, Cyprus and Czech Republic to journey back in time and discover the rich cultural heritage of these countries.

This project promotes mutual respect, cultural exchange, and European identity, while developing key 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, communication, creativity, and digital literacy. Students collaborate on joint activities, co-create presentations and artistic work, and celebrate their findings in a final exhibition that brings their shared history to life.

By working together, Greece, Cyprus, and the Czech Republic show how learning from the past can build friendship and understanding across borders—laying the foundation for a united and culturally rich Europe.

Playing with Human Forms from the Past

As part of our journey into prehistoric art and culture, we explored the cross-shaped idol from Pomos, one of the most iconic ancient figures of Cyprus. Inspired by this discovery, we created our own idols using playdough, expressing our creativity through shape and form. We also colored printed versions of the idol, experimenting with patterns and colors to reflect both traditional and modern styles. To bring the past to life, we even danced like the idols, imitating their posture and exploring movement in a fun, artistic way.

Objects from the Past: Exploring Ancient Cypriot Vases

In this activity, we focused on ancient Cypriot vases and their role in daily life during prehistoric times. We began by observing real artifacts through online museum visits, learning about their shapes, decorations, and uses.

Inspired by what we saw, we became little archaeologists! We conducted our own mock excavations, carefully uncovering hidden “artifacts.” Then, we used various materials and techniques to create our own vessels, experimenting with form, texture, and decoration.

To deepen our understanding, we completed a puzzle based on an ancient vase.

The Monuments of Our Country: Lempa Prehistoric Village

As part of our exploration of Cyprus's cultural heritage, we focused on one of its most important archaeological sites—the Lempa Prehistoric Village.

We learned about the architecture and daily life of prehistoric people and then brought our learning to life through creative activities. We colored illustrations of ancient houses, completed a puzzle of the ancient house, and used LEGO bricks to build our own models of prehistoric homes.
