THE AUNT CASCA
The most famous of the region of Moncayo, in
connection with the existence instead
witches and covens, is Trasmoz. In his castle were
held, according to popular tradition,
Frequently covens and population lived some
witches who were very popular thanks to Gustavo
Adolfo Becquer: Dorotea, the "Aunt Casca" or "The
gauges'.
Gustavo Adolfo Becquer epistolary wrote a series of
articles ("Letters from my cell ") telling the story
of" Aunt Casca ", a famous witch in Trasmoz,
apparently existed in reality.

"Aunt Casca" was tumbled in a place by the mid-
nineteenth century; she was a witch white matted
hair tangled around her forehead like snakes, of
hunched body and deformed arms, which the locals
attributed all kinds of evils. Waiters
they chased with stones, clubs and knives to the
edge of a precipice.
One accused her of giving evil to his mule, causing
death to take away the desire
eating, leaving him destitute; another to do evil
eye on your child, removing it from the cradle
and whipping at night; also accused of making a
kind of a girl, flirt to another, from poison grass
and, ultimately, to bewitch the entire village.

Our efforts to locate that made "true" were, for the
moment, fruitless; however, we found other related
data Monastery Veruela, residence of Gustavo and
his brother Valeriano.
The enigmatic Monasterio de Veruela and
surroundings also captivated and seduced
with these issues to the ancestors of the Becquer
brothers. A sample of the above are the
Travel impressions Ignacio Valiente, editor of The
Journal of Zaragoza, who traveled
the Moncayo to watch a solar eclipse that was on
18 July 1860.

THE BRIDGES OF THE DEVIL
Legend has it that one morning a man and his cart
, trying to cross a river , invoked the devil and
offered his soul for her to build a bridge.
Appear the devil and he says:accept… He answered
: but must be completed before the cock
rooster. And with frightening speed the devil began
to build the bridge ... And seeing the man the devil
pressed and put the last stone mocking face , went
to his wagon , rummaged in it and taking cocks
took them kicking and right in the limit of time,
one of them sang .With haste he reloaded the
wagon and on the bridge and said goodbye to the
devil. Marcos and Jorge García.

The Weird Christmas Eve
Tradition has it that witches gathered Pyrenees all
Christmas Eves at the peak of Turbón where
covens and satanic masses were held. In a nearby
village, the poinsettias were spent happily, hearty
meals and midnight masses.
One year, a family (the home of Mr. Thomas)
came out in full (minus the grandmother, and old,
who was in bed) to midnight mass at midnight.
Back, to continue the party, Mr. Thomas went to
corral for wine and watched his best mule named
Captain was dead and a few scratches on the neck
and the party ended there.

The following year he was able to buy a new mule
which he called Carbonero, and on Christmas Eve,
returning from Midnight Mass saw that the mule
was bleeding from the neck.
All were amazed, history was repeated again. The
following year the son of Thomas, Antonier,
decided to stay on the block to be monitored.
History tells us that with the heat that was in the
block ran the young Antonier asleep, but woke up
at midnight and noticed nerve mules tried to light
a match, but after turning it off something.

Again he tried again and could see a black cat on
the back of one of the mules. He took a stick and
hit him with all his strength to the cat. Legend has
it that the next day dawned grandmother badly
injured in the leg.
The town of Huesca Tella (district of sobrarbe) was
also a favorite by witches to celebrate their
macabre places covens and spells. Today the city
houses a museum dedicated to the witch where
several stories related to the regular presence of
witches in the population are collected, and even
on record as Dance d'Bruxas still dances in the
village. Raúl Bos and Jesús Cativiela.

La bruja Cristineta
Judging by the names that remain, the feeling that
there was a time when Aragón was populated by
witches, since they are no dedicated numerous
caves, ravines, bridges, trails and even dolmens.
Covens were happening everywhere, as soon as
sounded twelve o'clock.
t is clear that famous witch gained some women, in
many towns, without knowing why, and people
believed them possessed by the devil and with
strange powers to sow evil in its path, without
reality came to justify that condition.

The legend has been extended in this direction,
and rare was where there were no well-known
witch. Cristineta is the case, that lived in the town
of Huesca Alcolea de Cinca. He enjoyed fame witch,
but tell that something was clueless. But one day,
she was seen flying over the ripas mounted on the
corresponding broom, beating Pedro Saputo, the
hero of Braulio Foz, as impossible adventure. The
neighbors were shocked and did not leave their
astonishment.

This unusual fact encouraged a man named
Nazario, who also wanted to fly like he did
Cristineta, so he climbed to hills to mimic the witch
flying. It warned that to achieve its purpose,
should be entrusted to the devil rather than God,
as she flew through the power of the devil. Nazario
nodded, her broom between their legs stood and
threw herself while Cristineta. But I was afraid and
could not help entrusted to God. He fell and the
next day appeared lame.

St George and the dragon
According to legend, the city of Silca (in the
province of Libya), was terrified by a great dragon
that scared everyone and causing damage between
people and animals.
Reassuringly, the villagers agreed to give the
dragon a person in sacrifice and for that, every
day, a raffle in which left chosen the person to be
given the dragon was performed.
One of these days bad luck fell to the king's
daughter. It was a much admired by the villagers
beautiful young woman, especially his father who
refused to deliver it in sacrifice.

Seeing the suffering of many citizens king offered
to replace the princess, but the king refused to let
others had to pay for the fate of his daughter.
Besides, he knew that his daughter was part of the
people and therefore must follow the rules so far
had been agreed.
The princess left the city. Walking slowly toward
the great dragon paused a few moments to look his
people with great sadness and resignation.
Suddenly, when least expected, appeared a young
knight with armor mounted on a white horse.

Seeing him, the princess told him of the dangers
that could suffer being there, but the gentleman
refused to leave and told him that he was there to
save her and all the villagers.
This gentleman named Jorge, faced the dragon as
soon as it appeared. They fought a great battle
until the gentleman drove a great spear the dragon
chest. From the blood He shed the dragon born a
beautiful rose that Jorge gave the princess after
winning the battle. Thus was born the tradition
that, on April 23, the day of San Jorge, all the lo
vers give away a rose to their girlfriends. Nassim

PASSAGE FROM DEATH
It was a about five in the afternoon when a group
of danish returning from the capital.
Passing through a small wooden bridge over the
river where the slope began, they froze when he
heard the cries of men. Were heard clearly in the
same place where they had found the bodies of
criminals. The group said that they can’t remember
at what time they arrived to work tables dining.
Since that day the apparitions began, with
dramatic results. A man called Oyuela, lead the
caravan to show everyone what a lie ghosts at the
brink of death, as they called the place.

When members of the caravan reached the wooden
bridge was found dead Oyuela. Had supposedly
died of a heart attack, but who caused it? What I
saw in those bushes?
Another case was that of Mrs. Eugenia, working
woman living in Arenales. He passed the one place.
It is not known what he saw, but travelers found
her walking and talking one on the way. It was
crazy.
The strange events in the passage from death
forced travelers to pass through the place in large
groups and day, never in the evening or night.

THE MAGIC STONE OF PYRENE
Cordovan (Ordobés) is a small town in the
"Guarguera", ie close to Guarga River in Serrablo.
Getting there is easy by car, just take the exit to
Boltanya a signal that indicates anything down the
Port of Monrepós, towards Jaca. It is a small
village, consisting of two houses, one of which at
least is inhabited, not even seasonally, and
dedicated to the farm sheep. Highlights of this city
its charming church dedicated to St. Martin, with a
tower with two holes for bells, and which visitors
since in no very distant date was restored.

Core typical high mountain population Aragonese,
really beautiful. But today I came here for another
reason, again related to traditional culture, beliefs
and esoteric. This is to confirm the existence of the
so-called "Stone Ordovés" famous in this area of
the Pyrenees for their healing powers for both
people and livestock.

Aunt Pelagatos
One of these ghosts with lantern appeared in a
village field Borja. an
white shadow walking through the orchards
and fields at dusk. Aunt warned Pelagatos
all the neighbors how dangerous it was to go
out at night to the outskirts of town. neighbors
were checking as one lacked pears, another
onions, tomatoes another
and so every day. Strange that someone had a
ghost wandering the value of
out to steal, unless it was the same ghost. e.

Gathered neighbors and town hall
they decided to go for it. Finally it was
discovered that the ghost was Aunt Pelagatos.
yet
is reminiscent of "Aunt Pelagatos" in the region,
where the next song is sung:
To Aunt Pelagatos
I've seen the ass.
I've never seen fireplace
they take so much smoke.
