Legend about the Owl Mountains
Drawings by Karolina L., class 6c
January 2016

A rich nobleman had 7 beautiful daughters.
He loved them, but was very jealous.

One day a tradesman sells them a magic shawl,
which changes people into animals. The shawl
can be used only three times. The girls run
away from their home.

When father finds out his daughters aren't at
home, he asks a witch for help. She gives him a
magic branch of a beech tree.

Father starts looking for his daughters. When
they see him, they wave the shawl and change
into hares. He changes into a hawk using the
magic beech branch.

The hawk flies towards the hares and then
they wave the shawl and change into the
roe dear.

The hawk waves the beech branch and
changes into a wolf and chases the roe deer
again. He almost catches them...

Then the roe deer wave the magic shawl
and change into the owls. The owls fly
away and never return home.

Father can't catch his daughters. He misses
them but he never meets them again. He dies
of grief alone without his beloved daughters.

The girls can't be people again because they used the
magic shawl for three times. The owls have flown
over the mountains since then and that is why people
called the mountains THE OWL MOUNTAINS.
