Natsyonalnыy Museum of Taras Shevchenko

Museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kiev, opened April 24, 1949 at the former gallery of paintings Shevchenko in Kharkiv and the Central State Museum of Shevchenko in Kiev. It kept the original drawings and paintings Shevchenko, handwritten lists of his most popular poems, the poet autographed incunabula, rare documents and photographs, unique library books XVIII-XXI centuries.

Exhibited lifetime editions of "Poet" (1840 th and 1860), poems "Gaydamak" (1841), "Gamal" and "funeral" (both -1 844 g.) With inscriptions Markiewicz M. and G. Galagan , donation inscriptions poet N. Belozersky, A. Bodyanskiy, Anna Periwinkle Bible (published in 1824), donated by F. Shevchenko Lazarev in August 1859, gilded medallion with hair poet, kept in the family Lazarevski.

Each visitor can turn the page facsimile editions, manuscripts collection «Wirszy T. Szewczenka», illustrated Bashilova M. and J. de Balmenom, album pictures Shevchenko 1845, handwritten book "Three years," "Little Book" (the originals are kept in department of manuscripts Institute of literature. Shevchenko NAS of Ukraine). Graphics and paintings are exhibited Shevchenko (about 200 pieces) and his contemporaries: portraits, landscapes, genre works.

The museum holds more than 30,000 exhibits of the main fund, graphics, paintings, archives, memorabilia, photographs, printed materials, decorative works

art, sculpture, books.
