How Can We Help Save An Animal In Danger?
Green Kid and Sheawater
By 2ºB Juan del Río Ayala
Once upon a time, there was a shearwater chick called Pardy.
One night Pardy left his nest and was dazzled by the brightness of a car's lights.
Pardy fell on a highway. He was about to be run over by a truck. But suddenly...
Shearwater friend Green Kid appeared.
Pardy was rescued by Green Kid.
And Green Kid now fights against light pollution in Gran Canaria.
GREEN KID SAVES CARETTA-CARETTA
Written by 2nd kindergarten Ierapetra
Once upon a time there was a sea turtle Caretta Caretta.
She went to a beach to lay her eggs.
She left behind the eggs in the sand and returned to the sea.
But the beach was so noisy that some of the babies lost their way to the sea.
But suddenly the Green Kid came to save the small turtles, by informing all the people on the beach.
All together tried to protect the nest. They put protecting nets around the nest.
Finally the small turtles managed to reach the sea.

It was the end of the summer holidays and Green Kids went on an excursion to Fuerteventura island.
Most animals in danger in the Canary Islands live in Fuerteventura.
While walking along Corralejo, Green Kids heard a small animal calling for help: "Help! Help! A cat! He wants to eat me!

All Green Kids have a special hear when an animal is in danger:
"There´´ s an animal in danger, we have to help!

Green Kid and Asio Otus

Once upon a time, a group of long-eared owls came to Kikinda to spend the winter there.
And, in the spring, they had their first babies.
After 25 days, one of the babies wanted to leave the nest. But, it wasn't very careful. It was about to fall when Green Kid came to the rescue.
Oh, no!
Don't worry!
Green Kid helped the small long-eared owl to return to the nest.
There you go!
The small long-eared owl was very happy to be in the nest with its family again. It promised to be more careful when leaving the nest next time.
I promise!
Green Kid and Otis Tarda
by Class 3/2, Saint Sava Primary School
Once upon a time, in a village close to Kikinda, Mokrin, there lived a big bird called Otis Tarda.
One day, Green Kid heard that Otis was in danger and came to her rescue.
Bang!
Bang!
He came just in time to save Otis from the hunters who wanted to kill her.
Green Kid chased away the hunters and put the frightened Otis back to her nest.
You're safe now!
Green Kid saves Hettie Hedgehog!

This winter, Hettie the hedgehog keeps getting into trouble. She's very kind and friendly, but sometimes she doesn't think about what she's doing.
It's a good job I'm around to keep Hettie safe!
Hettie likes to snuggle up under piles of leaves as they keep her warm.
Unfortunately she wasn't always safe ...
Piles of leaves are often set alight.
People don't mean to hurt hedgehogs, but they often can't see them,
Do be careful Hettie! Make sure people can see you!
And it's not just fires that hedgehogs fear.
Hettie thought she'd be safe under the trampoline, watching the girl bouncing.
But then the noisy machine came near and she was scared.
Hettie went to hide in the shed, but then the man came to shut the door...
Here I come Hettie! Don't worry!
Another day, Hettie went for a walk. She tried to cross a road.
That was close!
Green Kid to the rescue again!
Green Kid can't always be there to look after hedgehogs like Hettie so we need to help too.
If you find a hedgehog, you can give it cat or dog food but NOT milk and bread as it will make it ill. Find the hedgehog somewhere safe to hibernate and protect it from fire, lawnmowers and bigger animals.
