This is the third serie of Smurfs e-book. In this book smurfs will make a journey into past and learn about famous inventor/ discoverers and their famous invention/discoveries.

It was an ordinary day in Smurfs Village. All smurfs were having fun together. They were unaware of the danger. Gargamel and his cat were watching them secretly behind a tree.

Gargamel had a secret plan. He prepared a special dust for Smurfs by which smurfs will be caught after touching it.

They would find themselves in the cage of Gargamel's castle. He put the magic dust in a jar and went to Smurfs village.

Just as the smurfs were living in the village Gargamel poured the dust over them.

Just as the dust pieces were coming down , Father Smurf saw the danger and whispered the magic words but it was too late.
bla bala bala blaaa
Turn the magic back ....

All of a sudden a big dark hole appeared. All smurfs fell into this deep hole, even Gargamel and his cat couldn't catch them.

Smurfs after a journey came out of the hole. They found themselves in a very different place. They were all surprised and tried to find out where they were.

There were huge shelves and books everywhere. After a while, they started to discover the place. There were also tables and chairs around.

Wise smurf after looking round realized that they were in a library.
Here is a library ! In library you can learn many things from books. You can find many information from these books. It is wonderful ! Let's go and search for information!

Wow ! That is interesting! Let's go!
Perfect!
Let's go !

Each smurf went on a shelf and started to search for information. They shared with others what they learned from these books.

Look! There is a computer ! Do you know who invented it first?
No ! Who invented?
Ok!Listen then!

Computer was invented by a British matematician Charles Babbage in 1822. It didn' t resemble what most would consider a computer today.

The first computer was as big as a room. Isn't it interesting ! Look there is a photo of the first computer.

Wow! That is unbelievable!

Listen there is short history af computers.

The first computers weren’t so fancy. In fact, one of the first computer was an abacus. Invented in Babylon in 500 B.C., the abacus was made of string and beads. Its only purpose was to count and keep track of money and other things. In the 1600s, two inventors made calculators that ran with gears and wheels .

In 1833, Charles Babbage invented all the parts a modern computer uses, but it wasn’t until 120 years later that the first modern computers were invented. These first computers were huge and took up a whole room. The beginnings of computers as we know them happened in 1980 – only 30 years ago.

Do you know Wright Brothers?

No ! Who are they Father Smurf?

They are very important inventors in history .

What did they do?
When?

Wilbur and Orville Wright were American inventors and pioneers of aviation. the Wright brothers achieved the first powered, sustained and controlled airplane flight; they surpassed their own milestone two years later when they built and flew the first fully practical airplane.
In 1903.

Wilbur Wright was born on April 16, 1867, near Millville, Indiana. He was the middle child in a family of five children. His father, Milton Wright, was a bishop in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. His mother was Susan Catherine Koerner. As a child Wilbur’s playmate was his younger brother, Orville Wright, born in 1871.
Did you know? Neither Wilbur nor Orville attended college, but their younger sister Katherine did.

Listen ! This paragraph explains where their interest for airplanes comes from !
Milton Wright’s preaching took him on the road frequently, and he often brought back small toys for his children. In 1878 he brought back a small model helicopter for his boys. Made of cork, bamboo and paper, and powered by a rubber band to twirl its blades, the model was based on a design by the French aeronautical pioneer Alphonse Pénaud. Fascinated by the toy and its mechanics, Wilbur and Orville would develop a lifelong love of aeronautics and flying.
Always working on different mechanical projects and keeping up with scientific research, the Wright brothers closely followed the research of German aviator Otto Lilienthal. When Lilienthal died in a glider crash, the brothers decided to start their own experiments with flight. Determined to develop their own successful design, Wilbur and Orville headed to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, known for its strong winds.

That is very interesting ! Here it is written that the wright brothers observed birds and their wings while designing the airplane.

Wilbur and Orville set to work trying to figure out how to design wings for flight. They observed that birds angled their wings for balance and control, and tried to emulate this, developing a concept called “wing warping.” When they added a moveable rudder, the Wright brothers found they had the magic formula-on December 17, 1903, they succeeded in flying the first free, controlled flight of a power-driven, heavier than air plane. Wilbur flew their plane for 59 seconds, at 852 feet, an extraordinary achievement.

Great !

SECONDARY SCHOOL NO 3, LUPENI, ROMANIA

In The library we need the light.

Here's a fireflies!

I found
out who
invented
the light bulb.
Who invented the light bulb?

Thomas Alva Edison was an American inventor and businessman who has been described as America's greatest inventor.
He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures. These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and the long-lasting, practical electric light bulb, have had a widespread impact on the modern industrialized world.

Listen to me!
SAMUEL MORSE
What have you discovered?

SAMUEL MORSE

I read about Morse.
Who was Morse?

SAMUEL MORSE
was an American inventor.
He invented the Telegraph
and Morse code.
I know what we're going to do. We'll build a telegraph and we'll send messages. Someone will read them and help us leave for our village.

SAMUEL MORSE
was an American inventor.
He invented the Telegraph
and Morse code.
I have another proposition. I read about Aurel Vlaicu.
Who is Vlaicu?

AUREL VLAICU
was a Romanian engineer, inventor, airplane constructor and early pilot.

AUREL VLAICU
designed and built three airplanes of his own design
Great!

He perfected his design on rubber band powered models he began experimenting with while a student in Munich
We can build a plane after his sketches. We'll get on the plane and leave for our village.
Great!

Who's going to build Vlaicu's plane? What materials? Who's going to fly the plane?
Have you thought about this?

I have a new idea.
What's your idea?

I'm a cook. In my kitchen, everything mixes and becomes a tasty potion.
I support your idea! I read about Marie Curie.

Was a physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity.

She discovered new elements. We'll find something to beam us to our village. But what?

I think we should read other books.
We agree with you.

Baby smurf found a magic book in the library. They looked into the book for a magic that would take them back home to their village.

At the last page they found a magic and tried it all together.

After reading the magic words, the hole appeared again and they fell into the deep black hole.

After a long journey, they found themselves again in their village. All were happy to be back home.

This journey was very useful and informative for them as they learnt may new things.
