FESTA MAJOR

CHRISTMAS EVE

BURSA
GDYNIA, Poland
We've got a lot of religious festivals and a few national holidays. For example:
Year
On the 31st December Poles meet at the parties to celebrate the end of the old year. We dance, eat, sometimes dress up. At midnight we open champagne, make wishes to each other and look at firework shows. Sometimes we make some new-year resolutions. This day is called Sylwester after the male name which has a Name Day on the 31st December.
The 1st January is a free day. We don't go to school or work. We just relax after parties and meet our friends and families.
EASTER
Easter is a movable, religious holiday in Poland. It's always between March and April. We celebrate it from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday.
On Holy Saturday we paint eggs, put them in the basket together with some bread, a sausage, some salt and horseradish. We go to church to hallow the food. We share this food on Monday morning during ceremonial breakfast. After that we go to the most important mass.
Children love also small presents form Easter Bunny.
