original story by Angel Karaliichev

Once upon a time, there was a woman, who had three sons. In their little garden grew a beautiful golden apple tree. Every year it gave only one golden apple.

Every single year the tree gives only one golden apple. But in the night when the apple ripened, a dragon came and took the golden apple.

One year when the apple ripened, the eldest brother said to his mother:
-Mom, this year I will come to save the apple.
Suddenly the sky got dark and a strong wind blew. The dragon came and took the golden apple.
The next year the middle son said to his mother:
-Dear mom, this year i will go to save the apple. Give me a knife and walnuts so I can stay awake.
He didn't even understand when the dragon took the apple.

In the third year the youngest son said:
-This time i will come to save the apple. Give me a big knife.
He climbed the tree, sat between the branches and waited. In the middle of the night the grisly dragon showed up and the youngest brother came out of his hiding place.

He started the battle with the dragon. He didn't kill it, but jabbed it. The three brothers went after the traces of blood. They stopped in front of a dark deep cave. Only the youngest brother was brave enough to go in.

The youngest brother walked until he saw the dragon´s lair. In the garden he saw three beautiful girls. Two of them were playing with the golden apples, the youngest and the most beautiful girl had a red apple. He asked them to get inside. The youngest girl said:
-Please, get out! If the dragon sees you, it will kill you.

The third brother was very brave, he found the dragon and killed it. After that he took the girls out of the lair. The youngest and most amazing girl was a king's daughter. The king was so happy to see his favourite daughter alive.

They got married and lived happily in the king's castle...
