Hola, soy Violeta ¿Os acordáis de mi?

Tengo cuatro años, vivo en una casa de Almería, en España, y mi habitación tiene todas las paredes pintadas del color de mi nombre.

Hello, I’m Violeta, do you remember me?

I’m 4 years old and I live in a house in Almería, Spain. My bedroom has all the walls painted violet. It’s my favourite color, and my name! 

En mi casa estamos mi madre y yo, porque mi padre está en Suecia trabajando. Lo echo mucho de menos ahora que con el confinamiento él no puede venir a verme ni yo lo puedo ver a él.

 I live with my mother. My father is working in Sweden. I miss him a lot because now, in this period of confinement, he can’t come here and I can’t go there either.

Al principio cuando nos dijeron que no habría cole durante dos semanas me pareció genial. Podría estar en mi casa todo el tiempo que quisiera viendo la tele o jugando en mi habitación me puse muy contenta.

At the beginning, when I was told that we wouldn’t have school for 2 weeks, I thought that it was great. I was very happy, it was my dream life: I would be able to stay home all day doing things I really enjoy, like watching tv or playing in my bedroom.

Era el sueño de mi vida. No me iba a quitar el pijama en ningún momento. De la cama al sofá, del sofá al suelo y del suelo otra vez al sofá. Me iba a pasar las horas dibujando y cantando.

I imagined my new life... I would never take my pijamas off! I would move from my bed to the sofa, from the sofa to the floor, and from the floor to my bed again. I would spend hours drawing and singing.

Los primeros días de la cuarentena fueron espectaculares. Vi todos los capítulos de mi serie de dibujos animados favorita y no hice nada, nada de tarea. Pero la cosa fue cambiando conforme iban pasando los días.

The first few days of quarantine were fabulous. I watched all the episodes of my favourite cartoons and I didn’t do any homework. But things started to change day by day. 

 Llegó un momento en el que me aburrí de ver la tele, de jugar en mi habitación o de no hacer tarea. Sí, he dicho eso, me aburrí de no hacer tarea. Comencé incluso a echar de menos las obligaciones del colegio.

After a while, I was tired of watching TV, playing in my room, and not doing any homework. I even started to miss my school work.

Tras un par de semanas encerrada empecé a mirar cada día la calle desde mi ventana. Me fijé en cosas en las que antes no me había fijado. Un árbol, unos pajaritos que se posaban en la valla de enfrente de mi ventana, un gato que habitaba en un arbusto, el sol al amanecer, el cielo que parecía arder en el atardecer.

After a few weeks in my house, I started to look out the window and notice new things on my street. I saw things that I hadn’t seen before: a tall tree, little birds sitting on the fence opposite my window, a cat that lived in a bush, the sun at sunrise, and the sky glowing different colors at sunset.

 Descubrí como era la vida desde mi ventana. Y fue en ese momento cuando me di cuenta de que necesitaba salir a la calle.

        Es verdad que no estoy mal en casa. Que tengo todo lo que necesito y estoy con mi mamá que me quiere mucho y pasa todo el día conmigo, pero echo de menos muchas cosas.

In that moment I realised that I really wanted to go outside and walk on the street. It’s not bad being home. I have everything I need and I’m with my mum who loves me a lot and spends all her time with me. But, I miss a lot of things.

Echo de menos el colegio y a mis amigos. Necesito dar un abrazo a mi maestra y hablar con la dependienta de la panadería. Echo de menos hasta la asignatura de Educación Física, y eso que no me gusta mucho hacer ejercicio. Me he decidido a que, cuando termine el confinamiento, voy a practicar deporte cada día.

 I miss my school and my friends. I want to hug my teacher and to talk with the canteen cooks. I miss PE class, even though I don’t really like doing physical activities. I have decided that when the confinement is finished, I will do some activity outside every day.

 Así que he escrito un listado de cosas que pienso hacer cuando pueda salir de mi casa. Las escribo aquí a ver qué te parecen: saludar a todos los vecinos, sonreír, pararme a ver y oír las aves, ejercicio físico cada día,

So I wrote a list of different activities that I will do as soon as I can go out: I will say hello to all my neighbours, I will see and listen to the birds, I will do some physical activity outside every day.

leer cuentos con mis amigos, esforzarme mucho en el colegio, salir a pasear con mi familia ...

La lista no está cerrada porque seguro que se me ocurren muchas más cosas.

I will read stories and tales with my friends, I will try my best at school, I will go on walks by the sea with my family. What do you think?

 It’s an open list, because I’m sure that I will add more ideas.
