a merry Christmas

The most important day of Christmas in Poland is Christmas Eve which falls on 24 of December. We have a lot of customs on that day and in this presentation we will show you some of them.

Evening starts with supper. Traditionally everyone start eating once the first star shines. There should be twelve different dishes on the table, including pierogi and fish.
Christmas tree is decorated in lights, chains and glass ornaments in various shapes and sizes. Presents are located under the tree and can’t be opened until everyone finish their meal.

Singing Christmas carols is also a big part of celebrating Christmas Eve. Everyone gather around the table and sing which gives sense of unity between members of family. During Christmastime carolers wander from house to house singing and collecting money.
The most important part of Christmas Eve is sharing the Christams Eve wafer. Every person you share your wafer with wishes you happy Christmas and other things.
