My grandma's name is Frances Marie
Morales she was born on November 8, 1945
in Del Rio Texas.

My grandma was raised by both of her
parents in Plain View Texas, she was
the third oldest of eleven children.

My grandma's dad was a nice man and he was
friendly to everyone. Her mom was more strict, but
she did a lot for the family by always making sure her
husband and children were fed and the house was
clean. One time my grandma's dad told her when
she gets older she's going to be just like her mom.

My grandma did not finish school she stopped
going when she was in second grade. When
she got to the age of 12 she started working in
the fields.

Being one of the oldest of eleven siblings my
grandma also had to help around the house.
Some of the chores she had to help with was
cooking, and helping her mom take care of her
little brothers and sisters. My grandma didn't
have a washer so she also had to help her
mom wash clothes by hand.

My grandma couldn't go out places so when
she was done with chores she would go
outside and play with kids around her
neighborhood.

When my grandma was growing up she never
got in serious trouble. If her or any of her
siblings did something wrong her dad would
talk to them and tell them what they did
wrong. My grandma's mom would get mad at
them and spank them when they got in
trouble.

When my grandma was a little girl she didn't
understand racism, she never got offended by
anyone because she was too young to know it
was wrong. Whenever she would go out to eat
with her family there were some restaurants
they couldn't eat at because they were mostly
for white people.

My grandma was 30 when she met my grandpa in
church. He was really good friends with her dad so
he was happy for them when they got together. My
grandparents have been together for 40 years now.

While my grandma was pregnant with my dad
and uncle she had to work picking vegetables
because her and my grandpa started to
struggle with money after they got married
and moved in together.

When my grandma gave birth to my dad and
uncle she was 32 years old. My dad and uncle
were her first twins of seven kids.

In 1985 my grandparents moved to Ulysses
Kansas to raise their family. They chose to
move to Ulysses because there wasn't a lot of
crime and it was a nice, small place to raise all
the kids.

My grandma wouldn't change anything from
her teenage years, but if she could go back to
any age it would be her twenties because she
enjoyed being young. If my grandma could
bring anything back from the past it would be
her dad who passed away 20 years ago when
he got really sick.

My grandma said she doesn't have any regrets
because if she never would of went through
some of the things she went through she
wouldn't of changed her life to become a
strong women who lives by God. Advice my
grandma would give to teenagers is to serve
God, never quit school or give up on anything
in life.

One of my grandma's proudest moments is
having all of her kids and grandchildren
together because she is getting older and
seeing all of us together lets her know we're
safe.
