Once upon a time there was a boy called Kevin. He lived in Redland, a country where there was war. His father had been killed and his mother and he had to flee to another country.

The journey was very hard but they finally arrived safely in Yellowland where everything was yellow. Kevin and his mother were really amazed! 

They were so red that people stared at them with curiosity and were often unfriendly. They started feeling scared. They had trouble communicating with people in their neighbourhood, at the supermarket and at school. 

Kevin couldn’t even play hide-and-seek in the playground because he stood out everywhere!

His classmates called him “Tomato” to tease him.

One day a young girl called Daisy went near him and smiled. "Can you be my friend?" she asked. "I’m alone, too. The other children call me Twiggy and won’t play with me. Can you tell any jokes?"

Jokes?! Kevin used to be an expert in jokes. He started telling Daisy a joke - one of his best! The girl laughed and laughed and laughed... She laughed so hard that she turned red... and a little yellow, orange, green and purple. Some red, purple, blue, yellow, pink and orange flowers sprang around her.

Some colourful birds flew across the sky. Cotton candy clouds appeared up above. Kevin was amazed and thrilled! He couldn’t believe his eyes! The other children in the playground soon got curious and came closer. Then Kevin told another joke. They all began to laugh out loud. Buildings, streets, cars, bikes, cats and dogs became colourful all over!

After a while everything was bright and cheerful, including Kevin. His classmates loved him for bringing more colours to their lives and taught him their games.

They all lived happily ever after. Until , one day, a girl from Blueland arrived...
