This book was created by children in Iceland, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Spain participating in an eTwinning project named Knock Knock. The children have created different doors and as they enter through the doors four items appear that are connected to that country. These items must be used as the story develops travelling from one country to the other.

Poland

Behind the door from Poland there were an apple, coal, bread and a wooden necklace.

Once upon a time there was a President who lived with a speaking APPLE. The APPLE was special, she was a real chatterbox! Not only! She also liked to dance without stop and she was really friendly.

The President found the APPLE in a COAL mine. He dug deep and deeper because he heard a voice.

"Free me!”

"Why is there a speaking APPLE in a COAL mine? This is strange...", said the President.

The APPLE explained that really, she was a child. A bad witch transformed her into an APPLE because she threw stones at her window.

The APPLE and the President became friends. They decided to go and look for the famous NECKLACE with red wooden pearls because it was magic! Only in this way the APPLE would transform into a girl again.

The President and the APPLE got ready to leave. They took some BREAD, some ham, they dressed heavily, they prepared tents and sleeping bags and put them in their backpacks. The adventure was about to begin!

Italy

Behind the door to Italy there were Pinocchio, Colosseum, a pizza and a boot that looked like Italy.

The President and the APPLE went to find PINOCCHIO to ask him about the NECKLACE. PINOCCHIO said he knew where to find it, but then his nose grew bigger. He was lying. They gave him a hug so the nose would grew smaller again.

They went to the COLOSSEUM to look for a lion. The lion was in a cage and they approached it to see if it was wearing the NECKLACE on its´ head. The lion became so angry it jumped and the cage broke. Luckily enough the lion went to a restaurant to have a PIZZA instead of eating them.

The President and the APPLE found a BOOT. They looked into the BOOT and there was the NECKLACE. They wished for the APPLE to change back into a child.

Iceland

Behind the door to Iceland there were a swimming pool filled with water from the hot springs, northern light, a viking and whale.

And the curse was destroyed thanks to the magic NECKLACE with red wooden pearls. Suddenly the SKY TURNED GREEN because of the curse destruction. Happily, the APPLE turned into a girl again.

The President and the girl were really happy. They decided to buy a big and beautiful HOUSE WITH A POOL in the middle of the mountains to live. They could see the sea from the windows.

One morning the President and the girl saw a viking boat from their window. The VIKINGS had a pet as do we. It was a WHALE! The President and the girl started to argue:

"I think that the pet is an orca!", said the President.

"Nooo! It’s a WHALE", answered the girl.

"It doesn’t matter, the thing is that they have a pet, haha", stated the President.

The viking boat and the WHALE were approaching to the shore. The President and the girl got really nervous and they were afraid. That’s why they decided to hide inside the swimming pool. However, the WHALE escaped...

Spain

Behind the door to Spain there were a vulture, smoke, a pool and a river.

The FOREST around THE RIVER cought on fire. When the whale saw the fire, he jumped into the ocean and swam away.

The president and the girl quickly searched for a fire extinguisher. And when they had extinguished the fire, there were SMOKE everywhere. But the president, the girl and the VIKINGS were very happy because the fire was gone. So they decided they were going to the SPA for vacation.

They were having a great time because they were swimming, jumping and diving into the water. When the smoke was gone, suddenly a fire EAGLE came and started a fire again.

The EAGLE flew away to the mountains where it had nest.

Slovenia

Behind the door to Slovenia there were a dragon, ruins of a castle and the oldest house.

It soon emerged that the EAGLE had not lit the fire on purpose, but because it was fighting with a neighbour – the DRAGON who lived at the nest nearby.

They were fighting for the food as they were really hungry.

The girl was afraid that she could become Dragon` breakfast (which happens with princesses in fairy tales), so she began to cry. The President and VIKING wanted to take her to a safer place but the only shelter they found was the RUINS OF THE CASTLE. The girl started crying even more when she imagined that the Dragon could eat all inmates of this castle – the Queen, and the King, all the lovely princesses and princes.

Luckily from the top of the mountain they saw an OLD HOUSE. The President, the girl and the VIKING went there on the wings of the EAGLE as he was a good animal.

They opened the DOOR of the house and saw... a NECKLACE with red wooden pearls lying on the table!

Nobody was eaten, and everyone became good friends. They were sharing the necklace which turned out to be able to make their wishes come true.

Even one wish a day!
