Hello. What do you think about nature? Can you tell me something about nature, please?
Hi,of course.Nature is very important for us.Nature is an important part of our lives. There are many reasons to love nature.Firstly; we eat foods and plants that we get from nature.Second; animals are very important. Finally; we get relax through the nature.Let me see.
There are lots of animals in the world such as reptiles, fish, wild animals, pets etc.Farm animals help us at agriculture, we use their meat and milk.Insects are useful for land and plants.Wild animals have their own lives at the jungles and deserts also there are lots of fish kinds in sea and oceans. We live with animals. We shouldn't damage them.
We need plants and trees for taking breath beacause they do photosynthesis. There are some plants which we can eat.But we must be careful because some of them are posinous. And also plants are home and food for animals.Walking in a forest gets relax the people. If we want to live healthy,we should protect nature.

So if we want to live healthy and happy we should protect the world. Please close your eyes and imagine that you are at the beach, you are listening sound of the sea and feel happiness in your soul.
Yes, you are right. If we want to feel these emotions, we should be careful everything about nature; because we need nature. We should take necessary precautions. Thanks a lot.
You're welcome.

1-What does global warming mean?
Global warming is the increasing of average temperature of the Earth because of human activities especially fossil fuels burning which increases green house gas levels in Earth’s atmosphere.

2-What are it’s effects?
Melting of icebergs, raising of water level, water scarcity we call it drought, devastation of animal habitats, animal extinction are a few examples of global warming effects.
3-Then,what will we encounter in the future?
Water wars will happen. The number of death rate will increase.Perhaps,we will have to use oxygen masks because of anoxia.

CHAPTER V
Water scarcity
and consumption
CIhan Yorgun Secondary School
SEMİHA UĞUZ
You have learned a lot of information about nature so far but now let's talk about water consumption and water scarcity. Do you know that water is the source of our life and we can't survive without water? Water is so important not only for humans but also for all living creatures such as animals, plants etc.

Do you mean ''no water , no life?'' Am I right?
Absolutely. Life is impossible without water. You can click on this site to learn about water consumption in the world. https://www.worldometers.info/water/
Are we careful about the water consumption ?

Unfortunately , nobody is aware of water consumption. Also we waste and pollute water. Let me give some examples.
- .We use about 5 gallons of water if we leave the water running while brushing our teeth
- We have a bath for a long time.
An average bath requires 37 gallons of water
- We don't fix broken taps.
- We pollute water, throw garbage into seas and also factories throw their chemicals into the water.

Oh really ? What happens if we continue doing these ?
Unfortunately, we will face water scarcity and won't have enough water . Because our water sources are decreasing day by day . We won't be able to reach clean water . And it means drought, too . We won't be able to grow any fruit or vegetables , animals will die . Our rivers will dry . And if we don't take measures , this situation will get worse . Our ecosystem will suffer .

Now, look at these two pictures, please. Do you prefer living in picture 1 or picture 2 ? Think carefully and make your decision.

Of course ,picture 1.I got it. We need to take action immediately for water consumption.Thank you for informing me about water.

Some Tips for Water Consumption :
-Turn off the taps while brushing teeth
-Use dishwasher
-Take a short shower
-Water your garden in the morning
-Wash your car with a bucket and sponge instead of a hose
-Use a bowl in the sink when washing fruit, vegetable. You can then use the waste water to water your plants in the garden
-Check your taps for the leaks

Hello everyone! In this chapter we are going to learn about waste, the origin of rubbish, different types of waste that we can find, the consequences of it and more!
This way, we can get people to care more about the environment and be more self-conscious about this problem.

Origin of waste:
Consequences:
Solutions:

Types of waste:
Quantities of waste:
Most affected countries
Waste has increased throughout the years. Humans have produced around 9,5 billion kg of waste. There is around 577 million kg of waste on Earth right now. Each person produces a quantity of 1,2 kg per day. We should be more self conscious about this topic.
There are 9 types of different waste
-PLASTIC -PAPER -GLASS -ORGANIC -CLOTHES -BATERRIES -E-WATE -LIGHT BULB -METAL
If the World Bank's projections are correct, waste generation will dramatically outpace population growth by more than double by 2050. The countries that produced the most waste in 2017 were Canada, Bulgaria, the United States, Estonia, and Finland.

CHAPTER VIII
Plastic usage
NADİR TOLUN SECONDARY SCHOOL
Gizem YEŞİLOĞLU
WHY NOT THROW YOUR PLASTIC TO THE FLOOR
The technology is getting more advanced but the earth is getting dirtier everyday. How hard is it to not put your plastic bottle into the ordinary garbage, just recycle it. If you say, I am just a human what could possibly happen if I throw one plastic bottle to the floor, if everyone said something like that there are eight billion people in the world, can you imagine what would happen to the earth?!

Versatile plastics inspire innovations that help make life better healtier and safer every day.
Plastics are used to make child safety seats and airbags in automobiles. They're in cell phones , televisions, computers and other electronic equipment. That makes homes' modern life possible. They're in the roofs, walls, flooring and insulation. That makes home and buildings' energy efficient. And plastics in packaging help keep food safe and fresh.
Beside these positive features, plastic usage can be a big problem for nature if we don't use carefully.
10 FACTS ABOUT PLASTIC
1. Since the 1950's around 8.3 billions of plastic have been produced worldwide.
2.In some parts of the world, using plastic is already illegal.
3. 73% of beach litter worldwide is plastic.
4. A million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute.
5. Worldwide, about 2 million plastic bags are used every minute.
6. 90% of plastic polluting our oceans is carried by just 10 rivers.
7.Plastic is killing more than 1.1 million seabirds and animals every year.
8.The average person eats 70,000 microplastics each.
9.The average time that a plastic bag is used for is 12 minutes.
10.Over the past 50 years world plastic production has doubled.
Use a reusable product bag.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO USE LESS PLASTIC?
Buy a box instead of a bottle.
Make freshly squeezed juice instead of buying it.
Stop using plastic straws, even in restaurants.
Put your lunch in reusable containers and bags and use a razor blade with replaceable blades.
2. How many plastic bags are used every minute around the world?
A) 4 million B) 1 million C) 2 million
3. How many seabirds and other animals are killing because of plastic?
A) 9,9 million B) 1,2 million C) 8,3 million
4. Which one is wrong?

Duygu PAKEL

HELLO
Would you like to learn
about recycling?

What is recycling?
Recycling is a way to take trash and turn it into new products. There are a number of different recycling processes that allow materials to be used more than once.

Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment. Recycling helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste.

Let's make a thing

CHAPTER X
Renewable energy
ÇAĞIŞ SECONDARY SCHOOL
Ceren BÜYÜKÖZER

A renewable energy source means energy that is sustainable - something that can't run out, or is endless, like the sun. When you hear the term 'alternative energy' it's usually referring to renewable energy sources too. It means sources of energy that are alternative to the most commonly used non-sustainable sources - like coal.

Wind energy is a plentiful source of clean energy. Wind energy turns a turbine’s blades, which feeds an electric generator and produces electricity.

Hydro energy: As a renewable energy resource, hydro power is one of the most commercially developed.

By converting agricultural, industrial and domestic waste into solid, liquid and gas fuel, biomass generates power at a much lower economic and environmental cost.

Geothermal energy
By harnessing the natural heat below the earth’s surface, geothermal energy can be used to heat homes directly or to generate electricity.

CHAPTER XI
Let's be eco-friendly
Cihan Yorgun Secondary School
SEZİN BALIK

OMG! I have behaved very careless and rude to the nature so far. I regret that I have given many harms to our world. I wish I could correct all my mistakes
Don't worry! It isn't too late. You can become ECO-FRIENDLY from now on. I have some friends who are members of ''Let's Be Eco-friendly'' club. They can help you. Let's make a video call with them

What does ECO-FRIENDLY mean?
Being eco-friendly means to have little or no damaging effect on the environment.
Eco-friendly Houses
It’s a house that’s designed to have very little impact on our planet. Why’s it so important? Because burning fossil fuels to power and heat our homes is one of the leading causes of climate change. Eco-friendly homes are all about using renewable energy sources such as polar and wind energy, being energy-efficient, and using natural and sustainable materials.

Eco-Friendly Schools
It means to be caruful about the environmantal issues while managing the school works. They prefer investing on digital tools instead of printing items, delivering homeworks and projects on digital platforms, raising students' awareness on environmental problems and couraging them to poduce solutions.
Eco- Friendly Products
it means production, packaging and delivery pocesses of a product shouldn’t give any harm to the nature. Always think of the three Rs: recycle, reuse, reduce. While shopping, you can look at the label of a product to see whether it’s eco-friendly or not.
http://www.ecolabelindex.com/ecolabels/?st=region%2Ceuro

Yupppy! Now I know what to do. Here are my individual precautions to be eco-friendly:
Get on your bike and use public transportation instead of private cars
Avoid disposable cups, culinary items, straws etc. Use reusable ones.
Buy local fruit and vegetables
Look for cleaning products with non-toxic, natural ingredients
Buy less. Reuse something you already own, rather than getting something new. Think twice that whether you really need it or not.
Save the energy and water sources.
Great! You do your best individually. Around the world many people fight against the environmental problems in an organisation publicaly. Greta Thunberg is one of them.

I am also afraid, I want us to be able to breathe fresh air without pollution and smoke. If people rode bicycles and roller skates more often instead of driving cars, we could breathe easily.
Sometimes I feel like going to the woods, but I know there is some garbage left . But I believe that children and young people dream of a clean planet to enjoy it and share with the future generations!
