One day, a nurse shark named Raymond
was swimming through a busy high
school hallway when he accidentally
bumped into a bottle-nosed dolphin. Her
name was Jessie. After knocking down
the books straight from her fins, Raymond
hurriedly picked them up. When he
handed them back to her, both had a
starry look in their eye and that was just
the beginning...

The school bell rang and Raymond
immediately swam home to the
deep sea from school. Thinking
about his new dolphin friend the
whole way home, he swims
through the door and begins to
tell his mom all about his new
mammal friend, Jessie.

A DOLPHIN?!
“Mom! I met this amazzzinnng girl at school today!”
said Raymond to his mother. “Aw sweetie! Tell me
all about her, what was she like?" asked his mother
curiously. “She’s a dolphin. But not just any dolphin,
shes the prettiest dolphin I’ve ever seen!” said
Raymond with the biggest smile on his face. “A
DOLPHIN?!” his mother exclaimed.
“Yes mom, a dolphin, ain’t that exciting?” His
mother took a deep breath through her gills to
release all her anger. “Raymond, you cannot be
with a dolphin! They’re just not like us! I can’t
believe you let that thought even cross your mind.”

“But you’ve never even met her. What’s so
bad about dolphins anyways? She seems
pretty perfect to me", Raymond said with
anger. “Our rivalry with dolphins goes back a
long ways in our family's history, Raymond!
One of those dolphins killed my father by
butting him in the gills. Dolphins cannot be
trusted. They act all nice and friendly but
they swim around thinking that they're so
much smarter and better than us because
they breathe air and we don't," his mother
went on ranting.

Raymond swims all around his town calling for
Suddenly, he hears strange clicking noises
come up from behind him. Before he can even
turn around, he sees Jessie swimming around
in a big group of her friends. Jessie eagerly
swims up to Raymond. “Hey, how’d you know
I was here?” asked Jessie. Raymond replied,
“I heard you from miles away! What are you
doing over here?” “Oh, I was actually looking
for you! Can we talk?”, Raymond asked with a
little hesitation.

We can never be together.

Raymond begins to tell Jessie all of his
feelings for her, but she stops him from
continuing.
Jessie tells him that she had already told
her parents all about him, and they
disapproved of the relationship due to
their families history. She explains that
she could never disobey her parents, or
imagine her life without her pod. Jessie
swims away quickly, leaving Raymond
broken hearted.
