DOUBLE DECKER                  BUSES 

THE FIRST HONG KONG DOUBLE LAYER BUS

The first Hong Kong double layer bus is the "Dennis Loline lll." This bus is a CMB: A name of a bus company, and it is actually introduced by "China Motor Bus"(CMB) in the "Hong Kong Island" at 1963. This also is the first bus in Hong Kong. "Dennis Loline lll" is a very old bus, it only works at 1970-1985.

       LEYLAND OLYYMPIAN 11M

Leyland Olympian is another old bus(also known as the 'Hot Dog" bus), all of the "Hot Dog" buses do not have air conditioners, same with the Dennis Loline III. It's called "Hot Dog" because the bus' colour look like a hot dog. It retired at 2012.

          Neoplan Megashuttle 

"Neoplan Megashuttle" is the bus that can hold the most passengers in the Hong Kong bus history. There's 95 seats and about 75 stands, this means at all, the "Neoplan Megashuttle" can hold about 170 passengers! "Neoplan Megashuttle" has four wheels at the right side and four wheels at the left side, which has eight wheels in total.

    DENNIS DRAGON

"White Board" bus is another old bus, it is already retired. This bus is called "White Board" because the body of the bus is very white like a white board. There are different types of "White Board" buses. One is 9.9 meters(ADS 1), one is 11 meters and the longest "White Board" bus is 12 meters.

            Leyland Olympian 

Leyland Olympian is one of the first double layer bus with air conditioner. There are 12 meters and 11 meters Leyland Olympians. KMB AL1 is the first bus using the main engine to control the air conditioners in the bus of the world. Leyland Olympian is one of the only bus with air conditioners before 1997.

SIGHT SEEING BUSES

Sight seeing buses is bus which has two layers but the second layer has no ceiling, so you can feel the wind when you sit on the second layer of a sight seeing bus. Hong Kong sight seeing buses are very cool, because when it is raining, the shed at the very back of the second layer will go up and block the rain from getting into the bus. There are different sight seeing bus models, there are VA53, VA55,  and also a bus called "Big Bus." "Big Bus" is a sight seeing bus that takes you a tour all around hong kong.

People all around Hong Kong like sight seeing buses, they are very comfortable and beautiful. 

VOLVO B9TL

Volvo B9TL is a KMB (A bus company's name) and it starts working at 2003. This bus is 11.8 meters long, and it can hold more passengers than the 'White Board' bus or either the 'Hot Dog' bus.

ALEXANDER-DENNIS ENVIRO-500

Alexander-Dennis Enviro-500 is another type of KMB, there are three different lengths. The first one is 11.3 meters, the second one is 12.0 meters and the third one, which is the longest, is 12.8 meters.

The first Alexander-Dennis Enviro-500 was made at 2002 and it retired at 2014.

Alexander-Dennis Enviro-500 had many different car bodies, there are CityBus, First Bus, KMB, MTR Bus, CityFlyer which is the airport bus and LWB.

Alexander-Dennis Enviro 400

Alexander-Dennis Enviro 400 is a bus with two wheels at each side and it got four wheels in all. The first Alexander-Dennis Enviro 400 was made at 2005 in London and after four years, which is 2009, the first three Alexander-Dennis Enviro 400 starts working in Hong Kong. There are two different lengths of Alexander-Dennis Enviro 400, the first one is 10.1 meters long and the second one is 11.4 meters long.

ADL ENVIRO 500 MMC 

ADL Enviro 500 MMC is about the same with Alexander-Dennis Enviro-500, but ADL Enviro 500 MMC is way more new than Alexander-Dennis Enviro-500. ADL Enviro 500 MMC got three wheels on each side and six wheels in all. There are four different lengths of ADL Enviro 500 MMC, the shortest one is 11.3 meters long, the second one is 12.0 meters long, the third one is 12.5 meters long and the longest one is 12.8 meters long.

                DENNIS TRIDENT 

Dennis Trident is a pretty old bus, the first Dennis Trident is ATR 1, and there are may Dennis Trident too, such as ATR 392 is a type of Dennis Trident. Dennis Trident serves at Hong Kong from 1999-2021. ATR 1 was retired at 21st of September, 2015. And ATR 392, the first bus that retired at 2021, which is 24th of April,  2021.

                VOLVO OLYMPIAN 

Volvo Olympian is an air conditioner bus. At 1993, "Volvo" made 10 Volvo Olympian Chassis and give one of them to "City Bus" and the others to Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB).

                    VOLVO B12

Volvo B12 is a CityBus, it travels from Hong Kong to Shen Zhen and from Shen Zhen to Hong Kong. Volvo B12 uses short bus body, so it's only 4 meters high (Most buses in Hong Kong now is 4.4 meters high).

            NEOPLAN CENTROLINER

Neoplan Centroliner was made in Germany, it is 12 meters long and 2.4 meters wide. At the end of 1999, First Bus brought 30 Centroliner bus and KMB brought 60 of them. The model is all N4026/3. At 2000, KMB brought 50 other Centroliner buses, but the model is N4426/3.

VOLVO B8L

Volvo B8L is a very new bus, this bus starts working in Hong Kong at 25th January, 2018. This bus is pretty special, because it got curve windows at the left up corner and the right up corner of the bus. There's another good thing about Volvo B8L, it's engine. The engine of Volvo B8L is not as loud as other buses such as Volvo B9TL, Enviro-500 and Enviro -500 MMC. But Volvo B8L is not as long as other buses, because it's only 11.8 meters long.

VOLVO B8L MCV 

Volvo B8L MCV is another new bus, this bus is even more new than Volvo B8L. It had just start working in Hong Kong at October 2020. Volvo B8L MCV also has a silence engine. And it's 12.8 meters long, longer than Volvo B8L.

                DENNIS FALCON

Dennis Falcon is the first single deck bus with air conditioner and it is also the first bus with air conditioner. Some of the Dennis Falcon is like the City Flyer bus now, it drives from the city to the airport and then from the airport back into the city. and it's retired at 2001.
