RECYCLING  ADVENTURE 

It was a sunny spring morning. Melike woke up excitedly because today was the big day and she was going to a picnic with her classmates. She immediately changed her clothes and made her breakfast. Her mother dropped her off to school. When Melike entered the classroom, all her friends were very happy. Then her teachers entered the class. "Let's see guys, are you ready?"said.

"We are ready!" they said. They all got into the school bus together. They saw many things along the way. Melike was watching her surroundings carefully. she saw the recycling symbol on a billboard. But she didn't know what that meant. When they arrived at the picnic area, she got off the bus and saw the same symbol on a garbage can..

Melike was very curious about this symbol. Everyone who reached the picnic area was delighted. everyone took out the food they brought from home. Melike also took out her food. While she was drinking the fruit juice, she saw this symbol on the juice package. she turned to her best friend and said, "Do you know what this sign means?"

Her best friend, Ebru, said, of course, I know what that sign means.3 recycling bins came to our neighborhood the other day.These boxes have the same marks on them.I was wondering what these boxes were. I asked my mother. My mother; 1. the box is a GLASS recycle bin, 2.box PAPER recycle bin, 3. she said the box was a METAL recycling bin. My Mom said that from now on, we will separate our garbage and throw it in these boxes. And Ebru, Ayşe, my friend, now tell me where to throw the juice box? she asked.

Ayşe said that the juice box will be thrown into the PAPER recycling bin. At that time, the water in Ebru's water bottle was finished. "Where should I throw the plastic water bottle?" she thought. Then she remembered what her mother had said. She remembered that the recycling bins that came to their neighborhoods were 4, not 3. She should have thrown the plastic water bottle into the PLASTIC recycling bin.

Melike did not understand anything. Melike asked Ebru why they threw the garbage in different bins. Ebru said this is called recycling, but I don't know exactly why. Ayşe said that we should get help from the teacher in this regard. The three friends rushed to their teacher. Melike told her teacher what happened..

Melike had a spinning recycling symbol in her head.They had to find the Işıl teacher and ask what is this thing called "recycling". Meanwhile, Işıl teacher noticed that Efecan and Aykut in the other branch were collecting different garbage in different bags and went to them.What willl you do with the garbage?". Efecan and Aykut said that their teachers started a project with recyclable wastes called "We are not disposing of, we are recycling."Upon this, Işıl teacher congratulated these students.They started to talk about recycling and Melike, Ayşe and Ebru came to their side.

Melike was still puzzled about what recycling means and why we should do it so she asked  Ișil teacher. Ișil teacher thought for a moment and then said to the children: ,,Let each of you go and hug a tree, close your eyes, stay like that for a few minutes and tell me what you feel!”

The amazed students looked at their teacher but each went and grabbed a tree in their arms like a big hug. They closed their eyes and stayed like that for a few minutes. Meanwhile, their teacher followed them and after the first minute the students started smiling, one by one.

After a few minutes,  Ișil teacher called the students to him and asked: ,,How did you feel?”.

Melike said "joy", Ebru said "peace" and Ayșe said "love".

Then Ișil teacher explained to them that this is what nature offers us and if we want it to stay that way, it is necessary to recycle. We must collect our leftovers and reuse them, but in order to be as efficient as possible, we must dispose of them selectively.

Melike was happy , satisfied and determined because she understood why and how we can recycle.

Melike rushed to her friends, happy to understand the recycling. She began to tell hee other friends with great enthusiasm about what she had just learned and the work her other friends had done. Melike was telling about it with such enthusiasm and enthusiasm  that her friends also shared this excitement. When Melike saw that her friends were also willing, she invited them to do a project about recycling.

They would recycle the wastes and bring back to life them. For this, they should have consulted with Isil Teacher. When Işıl Teacher heard this idea, she congratulated Melike, Ebru and Ayşe and continued her speech:
- You have decided to take a step to prevent our world from becoming a huge dump. You will also save the money you spend on the products you need or want. Such a project is running in the other branch. Do you know your friends Efecan and Aykut?
Melike, Ebru and Ayşe:
-Yes, we know them, teacher, he replied.

OK, call Efecan and Aykut to come here! - the teacher said, we are going to make a project together.

- You are going to be leaders. We are going to save the world! - said the teacher again.

When Efecan and Aykut came and the teacher told them the idea they decided to participate in the project and help the other classmates to learn why recycling is important.

-What shall we do, teacher? - the students wondered.

-First, you have to tell the other classmates to collect the paper waste and plastic bottles and glasses that the students will use during the school days for a whole week and each day they have to select the waste in the containers after classes.

-Second, the leaders should take the pictures of the whole waste each day.

-Third, at the end of the week, the shool principle will call the Utility Company to take the waste and recycle it - said the teacher.

The money we are going to earn will be used to make bird houses. We are going to put them on the trees in the school yardand we can protect the birds during the long winter from hunger and cold.

Can we do it, students? - asked the teacher.

Everyone is very excited and proud of the project they will do, they answered "Yeeessss!" They set to work to realize this beautiful project as soon as possible. All of them, especially their teachers, were very happy. They both learned how important recycling is and taught them to their friends. Now was the time to show it.

Come on, childrens! Be a leader and explain the importance of recycling to everyone around you. So let's get together hand in hand. Let's protect our World with many project we will do.
