WATER NYMPH
TED ALIAĞA COLLEGE (TURKEY)
Once upon a time, a boy saw a woman pouring milk in a pit. Then he asked her why did she do that and she said “This is the dirt in my daughter’s hand.”

Then they started the wedding preparations. When the wedding car came, the woman was shocked. Then she had an idea about making a girl out of dough and she made “dough girl”. She got on the car. While they were driving, she thought “ What will I do during their wedding!”

At that time they were driving near a deep lake. She threw the dough girl into the lake. Then she shouted: “My daughter fell into the lake!” When the groom heard that he got on a boat and threw the fishing net into the water to catch her.

There were three fairies in the lake and the youngest one saw the nets and said "I want to see above." Then she hold the nets and went up.

When the water nymph came out of the water with nets, the woman shouted again and said: “ This is my daughter!”. Then the boy and the water nymph got married.
Su perisi balık ağlarıyla sudan çıktığında kadın tekrardan bağırmış ve "Bu benim kızım!" demiş. Ardından adam ile su perisi evlenmiş .

But the boy always called her “country girl” and the fairy wasn’t happy about that. One day she stopped talking to her husband.
The boy got angry and locked her in a room.

The boy’s eldest sister saw the fairy making fish with her magic fingers in the room and she tried it. But she burned her fingers.

Then the middle sister saw her pulling water out with her hair and she tried it, too. But she fell into the well and drowned.

Finally the youngest sister saw her making bread in the oven. Of course she tried it, too and she burned in the fire.

One day she called her jars and told them to bring oil and honey. The boy followed them. Then the jars crashed and the oil jar broke a little piece of honey jar. The honey jar complained the oil jar. But the oil jar convinced the fairy not to hit it.

Then the boy convinced her to speak. The fairy said: “I am a water nymph and I’m not happy because you called me “country girl”. That was the reason why I wasn’t talking to you.” Then they made peace and lived happily ever after.

The Goat and her Three Kids

Andreea Brancusi,
Constantin Brâncuşi School, România, Medgidia
Once upon a time there lived a goat and her three kids in a small house.
The biggest and middle kids were naughty, but the small one was good.

One day ,she told kids she was going into the woods for food and also told them not to open the dor for anyone.

And when she would return ,she would sing a song so they would regognize her and she wouls say .

''Don't worry ,mom '' the kids told her.

Then, the goat went in the forest to get food.

Left alone, the kids locked the door how their mother taught them, and started playing.

And as soon as the goat went, the wolf started singing the mother's song.
This is not the mother's voice, the mother has the most beautiful voice ,she is not our mother.
Hearing these words, the wolf went to the blacksmith to sharpen his tongue and teeth ,so his voice would be squeakier.

''Now they're not going to recognize my voice''.Said the wolf to himself as he was walking to the goat's house. His eyes sparkled with hunger.

Ans so ,this is how it went. The biggest kid was fooled yet again and opened the door. But the two smaller kids recognized that it wasn't their mother's voice and they hid.The smallest kid hid in the chimney ,and the middle kid under the river bed.

The wolf came through the open door with his hungry eyes and his sharp teeth and ate the biggest kid.
Seeing that there was no one else ,the wolf sat on the river bed which screeched under his weight. The middle kid thought he sneezed and from being taught that way,he said ''Bless you!''
''Aha!''The wolf got happy as he lifted the river bed."You hid here, little one?"And without thinking again,he ate the middle kid too.
After the wolf made a mess looking throught the house, trying find the little kid,he gave up and left. Now the little kid was left alone in tears.

Meanwhile ,the mother goat was coming back with food.

As soon as he heard his mother's voice, the youngest kid opened the door ,and with tears in his eyes, told her everything.

Now ,she was only left with her youngest kid, which was crying for the other two.

The mother goat was thinking and thinking what to do to the wolf. She planned to get revenge for her kids. She cooked many delicious foods.
There was a deep hole by their house. The mother goat filled it with wood stitches and leaves. She then covered it with a carpet.

Then, she went to invite the wolf to her fiest. The wolf could barely wait ,for he had barely filled his stomach with the two kids.

As he followed the goat to her house ,she told him she didn't know who ate her kids. The wolf pretended to cry ,and blamed the bear.
After they arrived ,she put the table on the rug and sat him on a chair made of wax, which was melting under the heat of the pit.
Suddenly ,BOOM ,the chair melted altogether and the wolf fell on the embers ,and the fire was started.
When the town heard what happened to the wolf they were very happy. They gathered together and celebrated.

The Petrified Wedding
Primary school Bol, Split
Illustrated by: Sara Delić Matas
The Petrified Wedding is Croatian national legend about a mother who turned her son to stone beause of love with a poor girl.

Once upon a time, a miller, his wife and their only son lived on the slopes of Medvednica, in a fortress called Susedgrad.

They were hardworking people so they made good money from the mill.
The miller was happy because he secured a future for his son. But his wife only wanted to have a daughter-in-law, beautiful, cheerful and rich, as was her son.
The years went by and the son was still alone so the mother worried that he was bothered by some problems.
Wanting to encourage him to the wedding, she began to name all the girls he could take as his wife.

When mother heard who her son's chosen one was, the mother was very angry because Janja was a poor girl, and the mother wanted a wife from a rich family for her son.

On the wedding day, the mother stayed at home to cook lunch for the wedding guests. She was angry with her son and could not oppose him for taking poor Janja as his wife.
When the bride and groom came to the house, the mother stood at the door and shouted: "I’d rather die from an arrowhead,
Than let my son and Janja get wed!
And everyone on that cliff,
You'll become as a rock stiff.“

"Ubila me strijela mahom
Ak’ mi Janja bude snahom!
Kleta družbo na toj stijeni
Kamenom se okameni!"
A violent storm arose and suddenly a flash of lightning rumbled through the village turning the wedding guests and the whole village - into stone.
