Manta Rays live in various places around the globe. They can be found in tropical, subtropical, and temperate waters. They can be found in waters from 19 degrees celsius to 30 degrees celsius. They mainly live in offshore areas in oceanic waters and costal areas. They have been spotted in the following countries. The east and west coasts of the United States, Japan, Egypt, the Azores, Peru, Uruguay, South Africa and New Zealand islands. They are aquatic animals so they can't survive without water. They are free swimming animals. They eat plankton. And they are solitary animals which means they don't need others of their kind to survive.

They have pectoral fins that look like wings to help them glide through the water. They have wide mouths and have two things in front of their mouths called cephalic lobes. These things in front of their mouths help them to get water in their mouths which is how they eat. There are two different species of manta rays. The giant manta ray, and the reef manta ray. Baby Manta Rays look exactly like adults but smaller. The males leave right after mating. Baby Manta Rays live in eggs when in their mothers for twelve to thirteen months. When the baby hatches inside the mother the mother gives birth. This is called a ovoviviparous animal. They are are consumers. Meaning they eat producers. The only predators they have are large sharks and killer whales. It swims very fast to escape predators and they also use their long tail to scare the attacker away. Since they don’t have many predators. As soon as the baby is born the mother leaves and the baby fends for itself. They sometimes do somersaults to get as much prey in their mouth as possible. They can live up to forty years.

Manta rays have babies every two to five years. They reach their maturity anywhere from six to ten years. Males mature faster than females.
