Andromeda

was a princess. Her mother Cassiopeia told the 

greek gods that her daughter was more beautiful 

than any of the goddesses. Therefore the gods 

sent a great beast to destroy Cepheus's kingdom 

who was the father of Andromeda. Perseus the 

son of Zeus killed the beast and saved the 

kingdom. Therefore the gods created 

constellations of them in the nights sky.

Perseus

was the son of Zeus. He saved Princess Andromeda from 

the great beast Cetus. First he had to slay Medusa so he 

could use her head to kill cetus. He killed the beast and 

saved an entire kingdom. The gods put him in the sky to 

show that he is a great warrior and must be 

remembered.

Cetus

was the great beast that tried to destroy King Cepheus's 

kingdom. It was a giant serpent sent by the gods as a 

punishment. Perseus the son of Zeus happened to slay 

Cetus and save the kingdom. The gods put Cetus in the 

nights sky right near Perseus to represent the great 

battle.

King Cepheus

was the father to Princess Andromeda and husband to 

Queen Cassiopeia. His kingdom was saved by Perseus 

the son of Zeus. When King Cepheus passed away Zeus 

put him in the night sky along with the others.

Cassiopeia

was the mother of Princess Andromeda and wife of King 

Cepheus. She once boasted that her daughter was more 

beautiful than all of the Goddesses. Therefore the gods 

sent a beast to destroy the family's kingdom. The son of 

Zeus happened to stop the beast Cetus and save the 

kingdom. After Cassiopeia's death she was put in the 

night sky to be remembered like the others.

Pegasus

was Perseus's companion. The pegasus is an amazing creature 

that was granted to Perseus as a gift from his father, Zeus. It was 

also given to Hercules from Zeus. It was given as a gift to help 

them on their quests.

Orion

was a great hunter. He provided meat for the gods to 

eat. One day Artemis went with him to hunt for food. 

After the hunt Orion wanted to impress Artemis even 

more and killed every animal he could. Artemis was 

angered. She sent a giant scorpion after Orion which 

killed him. He was placed in the sky for his great service 

to the gods.

Scorpius

was a giant scorpion that killed the great hunter Orion.

Pisces

were two fish sent by Poseidon to save Aphrodite and 

her son Eros from the monster Typhoon.

Ursa Major

was actually a woman that had been turned into a bear 

by Zeus to be hidden from his wife Hera. Without 

knowing Callisto's son was a great hunter Zeus left her 

as a bear to tend to Hera. When Zeus returned to turn 

his girlfriend back Callisto's son had already killed his 

mother because she was a bear. 

Ursa Minor

was once a boy turned into a bear by Zeus to spend 

eternity with his mother Callisto in the night sky, while 

watching over her. 

Sagittarius

was the constellation of a centaur. Zeus put this in the 

sky to represent Chiron the king of the centaurs.

Taurus

was a great white bull that Zeus turned into so he could 

kidnap a beautiful Princess named Europa.

Virgo

was the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. She had been 

taken by Hades and was forced to be his bride.

Aquarius

is a constellation put in the sky by Zeus to represent 

Ganymede, Ganymede was taken to Mount Olympus by 

the great eagle Aquila in order to serve the gods water.
