Learning Objectives:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.G.B.3 Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.G.B.4 Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
Guiding Ideas & Questions:
1) What does the root “Quad” mean? (use examples like a “quadruplets”)
2) What does the root “lateral” mean? (use examples like a “lateral pass” in football)
3) What is a quadrilateral?
4) What kind of shapes can we make with four lines?
5) What is a square?
6) What is a rectangle?
7) Is a square a rectangle and why or why not?
8) Is a rectangle a square and why or why not?

Student Activities:
Getting Started:
Students will enter the multiplayer world Classifying Shapes. Each student should have a Classifying Quadrilaterals Worksheet as well.Videos with additional explanations are embedded inside the NPCs.
Activity:In the world, the students will come up with a definition and build shapes that can be classified under that definition. After that they will peer review the work of their classmates by labeling the shape with a sign, one structure can be more than one shape, for example a parallelogram is also a trapezoid and quadrilateral. Once they finish move onto the next room by speaking to the NPC and choosing "Other shapes".
COORDİNATE PLANES İN MİNECRAFT
Lesson Description:
Students will use coordinate planes to plot points and draw lines with basic functions within Minecraft.
Guiding Ideas & Questions:
1) What is a coordinate plane?
2) Where do we see coordinates? ie Maps, code, chessboard, etc
3) How do we plot points?
4) Can math draw a line?
Learning Objectives:
CCSS.Math.Content.5.G.A.1 Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0 on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis.
CCSS.Math.Content.5.G.A.2 Represent real world and mathematical problems by graphing points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane, and interpret coordinate values of points in the context of the situation.
