This is Selina
This is Elizabeth
Once upon a time, there were two girls named Selina and Elizabeth. They first met in 4th grade.

Now at the beginning, the girls were in different classes with different teachers but for some reason, Elizabeth was transferred to Selina's class.

All their classmates were somewhat a little rowdy though, I guess due to all the excitement still being the first week of school.

But as time went by, day after day, week after a week, everything begins to settle down things began to seem more real even though being a 4th grader is not that complicated.

Elizabeth always stayed so isolated and unhappy, I was the opposite. I enjoyed talking and having lots of fun and friends. No one ever seems to include her with any activities in class or outside of the class, not even in the gym. She was always the last picked for a team or any other challenge.

But for some reason I was drawn to her, her quietness, her lack of motivation, her sadness because even only being a 4th grader we were children and I know no child should be that unhappy.

Myself, I love making others happy and seeing them laugh. I started to think of ways to make Elizabeth happy at least smile. I felt sad for her and was determined to turn her sadness into happiness.

I went home and talked with my parents about her and different ways to encourage and uplift her, of course they gave me good ideas but, I also had a few of my own! I ask the teacher could Elizabeth be part of my classroom groups, since she was never chosen for anything, the teacher agreed.

I sat with her during lunch, when I brought in extra snacks I brought her some in as well. I also started to invite her to after-school activities. This continued on seems like forever. But she finally began to unfold, and brightened like a sunflower. She was way happier ever than before.

I knew we would probably be friends if not best friends. The school year was coming to an end quickly, everyone was excited about the summer. For some reason, it was no longer Elizabeth unhappy but I have felt a sense of sadness I guess because I spent so much time making her happy I realized how much of a friend she had become almost making her my only valuable friend.

I thought what happens if this is the last time we see each other or hear from one another, but I didn't stress too much about it. The school was out and summer was here the teacher was giving out certificates. Elizabeth and I received one in ''friendship.'' The teacher insisted I changed her, gave her courage, we laugh and hugged each other.

Throughout the summer I thought about Elizabeth and how or what she was doing, was she still happy? Did she return to her old ways of being sad and isolated? So by the end of the summer, I was excited for the new school year attending a new school and all. I was ready for was a change.

The school gathered in the auditorium to get our teachers and classes and to my excitement, Elizabeth was in every class with me. We were so happy! This went on every year and each year we became better friends. As our friendship became older so did we. At one time we started thinking alike. We knew one another's thoughts which were a little funny.

But when we turned 14 in the ninth grade Elizabeth lost her grandma. She took her death very hard. I stood by her through it all my family did too. Eventually, she was okay. Time went on throughout year. after year. We made it to 12th grade, Our senior year, graduation, diploma (you know all the excitement).

I was going to attend college in the fall. Elizabeth wasn't too sure what her next step was going to be but she did decide to get a job first to try to make some money to save up for any emergency that may arise.
