I love my planet! Air-drying clothes is good for protecting it. No machines, no extra energy! Even my mum was not aware why that is so important, we are all learning, you know!

With our students, during our lesson, we have discussed why it is better to dry clothes in the open air instead of using the dryer to save energy!

In our house, we dry our clothes in the air using clothes dryer as in the pictures.  We hang them on a hanger to air dry.We don't use any machine for drying clothes.                                 (İrem/Hatay BİLSEM/Turkey)

In our village of Tovarnik, most families air dry clothes and other laundry. Even at school sheets and kitchen towels are air dried.

Bees contribute to the ecology and to our lives in various ways. Saving the bees is another way to save our planet.

Polish strudents learn about mason bees, sow a meadow of honey plants and build bee houses.

Let's Save the Bees because we need them. They just don't make honey. They help the biodiversity in the nature.We shouldn't pick flowers for bees. We prepared posters via canva tool to share our slogan for bees. (İrem, Ela, Nurten, Doğuhan, Miray, Zeynep, Yaren, Yusuf/Hatay BİLSEM/TURKEY)

  1- We visited the bees and learned lots of new information. it was really good.

2- We put sugar in our balcony for bees.

Interesting facts our Italian students learned about the bees!

Our 4th grade students and their class teacher went to their teacehr's orchard and learned a lot about bees. Their teacher's husband is a bee keeper so he taught them a lot about bees. They learned how bees make honey, how they are kept in their bee hives, how many bees there are in one bee hive, that there are bee guards and only one queen bee. They learned about bees' lifespan during summer months and during winter months and how bees are kept alive during winter months as well as how they heal if they are hurt. But most importantly, they learned that there wouldn't be life on Earth if there weren't any bees left.
At the end of this visit all students got a jar of honey.
When they returned to school, they talked about what they've learned and drew and wrote about it.

I did not know before what compost is and how useful it is for the soil. We have a garden or not, we should find a way to compost for the sake of the environment.

Polish students start composting, those who live in block of flats either start using a small composter or create posters promoting composting.

Donate what you can!

ITALY

Our school's students and teachers donated school suplies, toys, clothes... to children in Petrinja whose houses were ruined and destroyed in an earthquake

Students from Poland donated board games, books and logic games to the local kindergarten, to the Association for Disabled People '' Our Home - Our World '' and for bookcrossing at school.

Eating local minimizes the energy spent for food transportation, using less energy helps to fight with climate change

We're from Lithuania. We eat our local food :)

Almost all families in our village grow their own fruits and vvegetables and so are we at our school so we can eat local. Homegrown is the best!

You do not know how much helpful you would be to the environment by carrying your to go cups instead of buying plastic bottles.

With our students, we have discussed the concept of pollution caused by single-use plastics, stressing out the importance of recycling and the need to stop use such materials.

Students had online lessons about composting and reusable water bottles with the representatives of  Municipal Association of Communes in the Leszno Region with whom our school had signed an educational agreement.

No matter where you live, there is always a chance to grow a garden and we should use it!

Every early spring Lithuanian windowsills become small gardens.

Growing plants in the classroom and watching them grow was an amazing experience for the Polish students.

Lithuanian students decided to call all the school students, teachers and workers not to go to the shop at the weekends. At the end of the first month, they had a meeting and made the outcomes. It turned out that people had been more thoughtful while buying, saved some money and spent more time with the families at the weekends. They decided to go on like this in the nearest months.

Telling children why it is important to spend less is not that difficult. They will understand it easily and many will choose not to buy anything.

Croatian students learned about the impportance of saving money and not buying anything for at least one day. They decided to be more careful with their money and chose a day when they won't buy anything each week.

We met again with the students both to give them information about what insulation means and to get their great ideas about the importance of insulation for saving energy. Then they have decided to insulate the doors and windows in their houses.

Our shool has old windows and insulation is very much needed. So our students made props to insulate windows. They used old materials so they also recycled along the way. They also thought that the props they made could be used for under the doors.

Lithuanian students gained lots of information about insulation of windows from the professionals who were invited to school. They showed slides and even organised a workshop where students could practice insulating on small windows. The students promised to use these skills at home.

Students and teachers from Poland joined European Mobility Week. We used public transportation more on the 16th-22nd September. We also travelled to school on bikes. We coperated with the town hall to promote the idea of carpooling. The most active students were awarded special prozes. Free entrances to a bowling centrer!

We know what carpooling is and are ready to accept it and explain to everybody how it is significant :)

We live in the countryside in Lithuania so 

carpooling is 

necessary :)

Students have learned about carpooling and some of them asked their parents to share the pick up duty with other parents while they are driving them to school.

Croatian students learned about the importance of carpooling so their teachers hired a bus to take them all to the nearby town. Four teachers and their students all went together.

Students shared their ways of keeping things and making a different use of them. Reusing is as important as recycling. 

The school from Poland joined Lower Silesian Science Festival online to get to know more about the five rules of recycling. After the lecture students from grade 3 b prepared toys from used containers while being supervised by the lectures from Silesian Universities.

In Italy, our students collected lids from plastic bottles and created a piece of artwork!

We met with students again to learn more about recycling. 

Lessons with the expert in 1st grade classes - Mrs Kozlowska from the local authorities deals with the waste in our town. Thanks to her the students got to know the importance of recycling and all the effective methods of sorting rubbish.

Siesikai students had a professional lesson on recycling. They learnt that Lithuania has one of the highest recycling rates in Europe. 

The best idea was the introduction of the deposit system in Lithuania in 2016. The deposit system means that with every beverage packed in glass, plastic bottle or in a can, a buyer pays a little deposit on top of the beverage price (0,1 Eur).

Now Lithuanian streets and forests are clean :)

Croatian students took plastic bottles and reused them to make herb and flower pots. They also used old T-shirt to make cloth strings so soil would be optimally wet. 

In Italy we had one workshop about the importance of recycling!

Our students stopped using plastic straws! They even ask: Do we really need to use a straw?

A group of senior students in Siesikai school (LT) decided to promote metal straws in different classes. They bought lots of metal straws, made posters and a quiz about them and started their action. The best learners got prizes - metal straws :)

On the 9th of November 2021 we had a special guest from Municipal Association of Communes of the Leszno Region to tell students in grade 5 c about their work which is recycling. 

Mrs Kozlowska encourgaed students to use metal straws and showed them how the process of recycling plastic looks like in reality.

Metal straws are reusable. We can reuse them by washing them every time.

Nature gives us a lot. We should protect it and then enjoy it!

Lithuanian students visited ornithological station in Vente Cape, learned lots of interesting things about birds' migration, ringed the birds and let them free. Vente Cape nests are the biggest in the world.

Students and their teacher took a walk around the village to admire the village's beauty, and enjoy fresh air.

Is the old better for the envirenment than the new or not? The students discussed the benefits of the old and the new for our planet.

Students from LT visited workshop "Commune DIY" in Vilnius. The guys recycle broken skateboards and make the most impressive keychains, ceiling lamps, accessories for cars and so on.

Even though there are many trees around our school, we planted some more.

Using high quality products is another way of saving the planet. When we use less things with good quality we can reduce trash and promote reuse. High quality products last longer and they can be donated or inherited.

Lithuanian students were making Christmas toys and later bird houses. Every time they were taught to focus on quality, not on quantity.

Croatian students held a debate about what's more important - quality or quantity. 

The conclusion is that quality is more important, especially if we want to save our planet.

Our students have asked for recycling bins from the municipality. While ther are waiting for these bins, they have made their own recycling bins at school and they started to recycle.
