Proclamation Line of 1763Date: October 7, 1763
What happened?; In 1763 the british announced the land
won after the French and Indian war. The land west of the
Appalachian mountains was reserved for the native Americans.
The British also banned the colonists from settling west of the
Appalachian mountains.
Contribution to Revolution: Upset colonist because they
could not expand westward to hunt and capture beavers for
their fur. The colonists felt like they lost there freedom
Me as a colonist: I would have been angry, but I still would have
crossed the line anyway because I want to expand westward and hunt
for beavers.

The Sugar Act: April 5, 1764What Happened?:An act that put a three cent tax on sugar. And it
also increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and certain kinds of wine.
Contribution To Revolution: Was one of the first instances in
which colonists wanted a say in their government, including taxation.
Me as a colonist: I would be angry and not pay the tax. I don't think
that England has the right to tax us because they are out of money from
the war. At least they could have consulted us before confirming the act.
I'm going to get some friends and destroy this act immediately!

to the colonists, tax was wrong
colonists wanted government consult on laws
Quartering Act: March 24, 1765What Happened: An act which forced colonists to let soldiers stay in their
house during the war.
Contribution To Revolution: Angered colonists because they wanted Britain
to consult them before passing the act.
Me as a Colonist: I would have been angry, because housing soldiers who
fight for me, I'm okay with. But the way the soldiers stay in our house, is not okay.
They treat it like it is theirs. Which means that they wreck our house, eat and drink
whatever they choose, and force us to sleep on the couch. I should not be treated
like a stranger in my own home.

The Stamp Act, March, 1765What Happened: An act passed by England which put a tax on most printed
items. They did this to pay off debt from the war.
Contribution to Revolution: Made the colonists feel like their freedom had
been threatened because they had no say in the law.
Me as a Colonist: I would be extremely angry at England. They can't just
pass laws for our country without consulting us. I feel like my freedom is being
taken away bit by bit.

The Townshend act,June, 1767What Happened: Charles Townshend imposed a small indirect tax on glass,
lead, paper, and tea. England passed Charles act and started taxing the colonies
on those certain goods.
Contribution to Revolution: Made colonists boycott British goods to not pay
the tax. Made England mad at the colonies. Me
as a Colonist: I have had enough of England trying to tax us on goods. That is
why a couple friends and I smuggle goods from ships without paying the tax. I just
hope England doesn't find out.......

The Boston massacre,March 5, 1770What Happened: A mob of colonists surrounded British troops harassing and
taunting them. The situation soon became out of control and the British open fired
killing 5 of the colonists.
Contribution to Revolution: Made colonists extremely angry, so the
colonists called together a town meeting demanding that the soldiers are either
killed or sent away back to England. The king agreed to their demands.
Me as a Colonist: I can't believe those Brit's! They just kill 5 innocent boys for
no reason. I sure hope their butts get kicked back to England real soon!
