Proclamation Line

What happened ?
The Proclamation Line of 1763 was a line drawn by the
british king that prevented the colonists from going into the
Native Americans' land, which was west of the Appalachian
mountains.
This angered the colonists because they felt that land was
rightfully theirs. They also felt that The British were trying to
control the colonists. This line made the colonists dislike the
British even more.
If I was a colonist, I would have been very upset and would
have not listened, crossing the line and gone hunting.

Sugar Act

April 5, 1764

What happened ?
The Sugar Act, placed a 3 cent tax on refined sugar, coffee,
indigo, and certain kinds of wine. Although all of these
products got taxed, not every had to pay them.
This only made the colonists hate the British more because
the British taxed the goods/cash crops of the colonies.
As I colonist, I would not have liked this act
because the act basically taxed all of the items
that the colonist grew and created to make money.

Quartering Act

March 24, 1765

What Happened ?
The quartering act said that colonists had to house
and provide food for the British soldiers.
The colonists didn't like this act because they felt
that even though the British soldiers fought for
them, that they shouldn't be in there homes. They
also didn't like the soldiers being in their homes
because they could spy on them and tell the king
what the colonists are planning or saying about
him.
I would have let the British stay in my home
because I believe they deserve some thanks for
fighting for us, whether we hate them or not.

Stamp Act

March 22, 1765

What Happened ?
The stamp act was a law that placed a tax on all
paper materials. This was the first serious attempt
to try to control the colonists.
The colonists didn't take this easily, and starting
boycotting British goods, which upset the king.
I would have done the same thing as the real
colonists, boycotting British goods because they
shouldn't be able to just tax glass materials.

Townshend Act

July 2, 1767

What Happened ?
The Townshend Act was created by Charles Townshend,
and he was indirectly taxing colonists. The act stated that
instead of taxing colonists at the stores, they would tax the
store at the ports. This made the stores raise their prices on
items, which made the new price equal the old price with
tax.
The colonists didn't like that they were stilling paying tax,
even though the British said they took away tax.
If I was a colonist, I would be infuriated with the British
because they forced the colonists to buy tea even if they
didn't want to. They also lied basically about taxes, because
the colonists still had to pay the same price.

Boston Massacre
March 5, 1770

What Happened ?
The Boston Massacre consisted of idiots and accidents.
When a group of drunk and anger colonists starting
harassing and throwing snowballs at the British troops,
the troops thought that the colonists might seriously
injure them. Acting out of self-defense, the British then
opened fire on the colonists.
The significance of this event is that the British
were kicked out of Boston and more colonists
joined rebellions.
As I colonist, I would have done nothing in return
to the British because the colonists were asking
for it by throwing snowballs and saying mean
words the British troops.
