This book is dedicated to my loving husband who has always supported me and to my birth mother and adoptive mother in both giving birth to me and raising me to be the woman who I have grown up to be

My name is Sammy. My adoptive parents William and Amy were unable to have children themselves. After many hard years, they decided to adopt. First they adopted my sister Anna and then me eight years later. They love my sister and I very much and they treat us as if they gave birth to us. I sometimes forget that I am adopted. Growing up, I always knew that I was adopted. Growing up, unlike my sister Anna who is also adopted, I always wondered what it would be like if my birth mother did not put me up for adoption and what my life could have been like.
I knew it was very hard for my parents knowing that they could not have children of their own. My Mom Amy told me that it was very hard on her because it was my Dad William who could not make babies. Amy and William loved Anna and I with all their hearts, yet, I always liked asking them questions about my birth Mom. I wanted to meet her, so as soon as I reached the age of 18, that is the age where someone who is adopted can look for their birth parents, I nervously began my search.
When I was an adult, I asked my adoptive parents to tell me all they knew about Lindsay, my birth Mother but sadly they did not have a lot to tell me, Other than her name and that she was young, no other information was known. My Mom would just begin telling the story of how I was adopted and her feelings around it but I really wanted to know more about my birth Mom.
My birth Mom would say, "After getting married, William and I talked about how we wanted to have many children, as both of us have large families. After years of trying and after many doctors’ visits, we finally found out that we are unable to have children of our own. We were both very sad since our dreams of wanting a big family disappeared. We prayed to know what we should do. After many years of crying and being very sad, William and I decided that we should adopt."
"Not too long after, we were able to adopt a beautiful baby girl who we named Anna. Years passed and William and I felt that something was missing. We knew at that time that we wanted to have another baby. After many years we finally were chosen again for adoption. We were so happy for another baby but not too long after that the mother wanted to take her back. We were so sad that we thought a baby would never come to us again."

"A few years later, we received a phone call saying that a woman named Lindsay was pregnant and wanted to meet us. We felt like this was finally the answer to our prayers. We hurried to meet her and soon we were chosen to be Lindsay's baby’s parents. We and Lindsay were so happy, that we all cried happy tears."

"While excitingly awaiting the arrival of our new baby, we received a call in the middle of the night confirming that our baby was actually born! I woke William up in a happy panic as we rushed to the hospital to meet our dear baby girl. She was so cute and tiny! We cried when we held her. Later in the day, Anna came to meet her new baby sister and would only call her Sammy. We loved the name and it fit her perfectly so we we decided to call her Sammy".
"Sammy grew up very active and was always a joy. William and I were very open with Sammy about where she came from and would never hide anything from her. She would always talk about her birth Mother and would ask questions about her which always kind of worried me. I was scared that she would meet Lindsay one day and no longer love us. I cried many nights scared. I love my little girl so much."

I will always love William and Amy and they will forever be my parents, but there was a missing piece in my story that I just had to uncover. My life was a puzzle and knowing my birth Mother and her story was my missing piece.

After going onto the internet, I found the form that I needed to fill out in order to find Lindsay and to uncover any information about being adopted. I filled out all the information such as my name, where I was born and things about William and Amy.
After many months, I received a large envelope in the mail containing all the information that I needed to find Lindsay. After months of searching, I finally found Lindsay and I sent her a message. . .

"My name is Lindsay, and I am 23 in school trying to be a veterinarian. I enjoy spending time with my friends, and I am a big softball player. I have always wanted a big family and a happy future with beautiful babies."

"For my twenty-third birthday, my friends wanted to take me out to celebrate. While out at the restaurant, I met a very handsome man named John. John and I quickly became great friends!"
