The Black Death was a title given toan outbreak of the bubonic and
pneumonic plague in Europe during
the Middle Ages. What was the Black Death?

What were the symptoms?If you experience an painful headacheand then the chills, you should be
worried. Following these 2 symptoms,
you will experience:
NAUSEA, VOMITING, and SEVERE BODY PAINS Then within a day or two, large
MASSES or SWELLINGS
appear on your:NECK, ARMPITS & GROIN.

then split open and ooze pus and blood.

Eventually blood pools around your body, forming discolorations of the
skin. Finally, there will be blood in
your poop and urine and then you

What Caused the Plague in the Middle Ages?Believe it or not, the plague originated
in Asia. Rats, carried the bacteria and
fleas, which traveled on the rats and fed
off of their blood would bite humans.

Causes ContinuedAs trade with Asia increased followingthe Crusades, the ships that brought
goods from the Near East, also brought
the rats, which traveled with the goods.

Medieval PreventionDo not bathe! The pores on your skinmay open up and allow the disease to
come in!If you do have to bathe, please do
so in a mixture of vinegar and rose
water. Or try your own urine.

Leave and RUN to another town if theplague is where you are.Wear a mask filled with fresh flowers
and herbs.Avoid spicy or smelly food.
