Hey guys! It's me again, Oliver. Today, we are going to learn some important things about English Conventions. Get your pencil ready, take a deep breath, and get ready to learn all about English Conventions.

Today, we will be learning about Simple and Compound Sentences, Singular, Plural, Common and Proper Nouns, Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Pronouns, Conjunctions, Capitalization, and Punctuation.
Simple and Compound Sentences:
Simple Sentences are sentences that contain one independent clause and no dependent clause.
Compound Sentences are sentences that contain two or more independent clauses and no dependent clauses.
(Independent= a group of words that contains a subject and verb and it can stand alone. Dependent= a group of words that contains a subject and a verb that can't stand on its' own.)

Examples:
Simple ->I kicked the ball. It hit Tom.
Compound -> I kicked the ball, and it hit Tom.



Singular and Plural, Nouns:
A singular noun refers to a single object, and it is the type of noun you will almost always find if you look up nouns.
Plural nouns are nouns that refer to more than one person, place, or thing.
Singular Noun Examples:
people: boy, girl, child, person, actor, huntress, king, and so on
places: town, city, state, country, Chicago
things: apple, orange, tree, plant, animal
Plural Noun Example:
people: boys, girls, friends, babies, swimmers
places: cities, villages, islands, lakes, countries
things: apples, oranges, vegetables, candies
ideas: questions, hopes, dreams, goals, expenses




Common and Proper Nouns:
Common nouns refer to generic people, places, and things.
Proper nouns can also refer to people, places, things, and ideas. However, they will refer to more specific people and things.
