Once upon a time there was a beautiful
mermaid named Princess Melissa. She was the
daughter of the King of the Sea, Poseidon and
lived in a magical kingdom called Pacifica.
Melissa's mother was eaten by a shark when
she was a young maid, so it was up to her
father and her to keep order under the sea.
Melissa was the King's royal helper and was in
charge of fixing small problems throughout the
kingdom.

Best friends Forever
Melissa had always felt a sense of pride in her
Melissa felt a sense of royal position, never
asking for when when she needed to save a baby
sea horse, or find the missing tuna. She always
felt better than the other fish, since she spent
her time always saving those around her. She
looked down on everyone, and the only friend
she could call hers was Carl the crab. She
supported her through every fish hunt, change of
current and oil spill. Melissa got used to life with
only one friend, but she felt it was because
everyone was scared of her status.

She felt more like a
Supermermaid, with a cape
and mask, then an ordinary
sea creature. She would turn
up her nose, and not speak to
any of the ordinary sea
peasants. While all the other
sea creatures went to school
and played tag. Melissa the
mermaid didnt have time for
such normal activities but instead
waited for the next crisis in
Pacifica to arise.

One day, Poseidon called to Melissa through
the magical conch with an urgent message.
"The Cordelia has been stolen," Poseidon
exclaimed, "you are the only one with the gift
to seek the magical sea jewel and find out who
stole it before the whole sea is devoured in
storms!" "But father, what is this car-dathiah
nonsense? And why is it so important?" Melissa
said confused. She had never heard of such a
thing, and didn't understand what could
happen from the disaster!

"CORDELIA! Not car-dathiah, but
it is a magical jewel that
harnesses my energy and controls
the tides. Without it, all my power
must be focused on keeping the
tides in order. Each day, I grow
weaker and weaker trying to keep
all the sea creatures safe. I'm stuck
off the Cape Island on a sea rock,
hopeing the Cordelia's disappearance
goes unnoticed. There is only so long
that I can keep order. You, my
daughter, are the only one that can
sense the cordelia, find who stole it and
bring it back to save not only all of
Pacifica, but the whole sea!" Melissa sat
in silence.

It was a lot of pressure for a young mermaid, but
she knew she would love all the glory! Single-
handingly save the entire ocean, what could be
better! But this was the biggest mission and
responsibility she had ever been given, and she just
hoped everything went okay. "How am I suppose to
find it, or get it back?" Melissa stuttered. "You were
born with a special power to sense its whereabouts
when it is unsafe. It has remained in the chest since
you're birth so it was never necessary. And that will
be up to you, but I have faith in your strength, my
daughter." Melissa thought for a while, and knew
she couldn't deny the opportunity, "I won't let you
down dad!"

Melissa hung up the conch, and immediately
felt a pull that came from somewhere deep
down. She could not explain what it was, or
what exactly it was saying to her but she knew
this must be her special gift. The Cordelia was
calling to her and she had to follow where her
instincts where taking her. She swam for day
for days and nights, unsure of her direction
until she realized a sharp change in
temperature. It had gotten so dark, bubbly
and scorching and realized, she must be in the
ring of fire! Only the most fierce animals could
survive here, and one was an old evil witch
that were in all the ghost stories, Madam Ulga.

Melissa knew she was close because the call inside
her grew even stronger as she approached a dark,
deep lair. "This has to belong to Madam Ulga, by the
way all the sea creatures have stayed away from
here," thought Melissa as she slowly swam forward.
She began to get scared, and realized just how
alone she was. She had told Carl the Crab not to
come so she could claim all the victory to herself,
but she was starting to regret that decision. She was
still unsure of how she was going to retrieve the
Cordelia, or if she was strong enough to swim it
back. She wanted to turn back but then she
remember what she had told her father, and knew
she had to press forward, and entered the cave.

As soon as Melissa entered the cave she knew
she was in over her head. The cave was vast
and had many different corners where danger
could be waiting to get her at a moments notice.
She saw her odds of success dwindle with each
inch she went deeper in the cave. When Melissa
reached the deepest depths of the cave she
found exactly what she didn't want to find,
Madam Ulga and her pet sea serpent Silvester.
There in the back was the Cordelia! But with the
great power of Madam Ulga's magical trident
Melissa was thrown into a cage. Melissa was
trapped and had no one to help her!
