By 1910 many of the Stroudley E1 class locomotives were worn out or inadequate for the heavier duties required of them. D. E. Marsh intended to rebuild some examples with a larger boiler, but only one E1X rebuild had been completed by the time of his unexpected retirement. Marsh's successor Billinton reversed this policy and instead ordered five new, more powerful locomotives from Brighton works. The new class included several features found on other LB&SCR classes including an I2 class boiler. They were delivered between June 1913 and January 1914.

TheFurness railway k2 

The Furness Railway 21 class (classified "K2" by Bob Rush) or "Larger Seagulls", were built a class of eight 4-4-0 steam locomotives designed by W. F. Pettigrew and built by Sharp, Stewart and Company of Glasgow for the Furness Railway. Six were built in 1896, and two more in 1900. They were built to supersede the 120 class on the heavier and more important trains and were in turn replaced on the railway’s top trains with the 115 class in the 1920s. They had 6-foot-0-inch (1.829 m) diameter driving wheels with 18-by-24-inch (457 mm × 610 mm) cylinders.

I don't really know a lot about the A1/C1 prototype,

but all I can say about it, that it's a beautiful steam locomotive.

Also, it look's like an extended Atlantic C1 to me.

The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway 29 Class

The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Class 28 was a class of 0-6-0 steam locomotive, designed by George Hughes for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway (L&YR). It was a rebuild of Aspinall's Class 27, with the addition of a Belpaire firebox and the extension of the footplate and front sandboxes. It was similar, but had larger cylinders and a superheater. It had 5-foot-1-inch (1.549 m) wheels.

The Class 28 was the inspiration for the character James the Red Engine from The Railway Series books by the Rev W Awdry, and the spin-off TV series Thomas and Friends. Awdry describes James as an experimental rebuild as a 2-6-0 with 5' 6" driving wheels. The other obvious visual difference from the Class 28 is the lack of the sandboxes over the front splashers. James also has a Fowler tender.
