E-Twinning project

Jimmy the seagull was flying above the city, full of noises and buildings, searching for a house that was not full of garbage and some nice friends. He loved the ocean, because it was warm and windy in a nice way, so he used to swim in there and chat with his seagull friends. But that day, he saw his dear ocean painted of a darker shade, almost black, and he was curious.

He decided to dive in there happily, only to feel a strange sensation all over his body. He felt heavy, like he couldn’t move, and he screamed for help.
Finally, after minutes of screaming, he felt big and warm hands on his body and suddenly he was out of danger.
He saw a young boy who put him on the ground, finally feeling safe in the green grass.

< Thank you > said the bird, still a little scared.
The boy seemed a little shocked, seeing the bird talking like he was a human, but he also became a bit curious.
< You’re welcome, little friend > answered the boy.
< What’s your name? > asked Jimmy the seagull, happy to know his saviour.
< I’m Tim. What’s yours? >
< Jimmy >
the boy smiled.
< So Jimmy, what were you doing in that petroleum pond? >
< In a what? What’s that? > the seagull was really confused, what was that boy talking about? He just dived in his beloved ocean.
< But what’s that? Why was it in the ocean? > Jimmy was a bit sad, why would someone dump such a dangerous thing in his ocean?
< Well, you see, us humans, we move around with all those things with wheels. They’re called cars. There aren’t only those of course, we use a lot of different machines to move around. All those things, they’re powered by gasoline and such, made of petroleum. Sometimes, it happens that this liquid is dumped in the ocean, or other bodies of water, but you must be careful: it’s dangerous! > explained Tim.

Jimmy was really really sad, even angry, because people were threatening his safety, and the safety of all the other creatures on the planet earth.
< But in that way, won’t the earth get ruined? > asked the seagull.
< Perhaps, yes. Probably > Tim was now thinking about what could happen to the planet.
< Well then, we should do something about that! All my bird friends could die! And even your egoistic species! > Jimmy was now quite mad.
Tim opened his eyes in surprise.
< I don’t know my friend, that could be difficult >
< But if you don’t even try, you’ll never succeed! > said the bird.
Inspired by his words and determination, the boy picked up his new friend and took him home.
There, they started making plans about what they would do to help the environment and wrote them down.
1. we should not dump any type of toxic materials in the air, water or earth.
2. we must clean all the streets, beaches, and other urban areas where there is waste.
3. we mustn't waste water or food, because there are other people in need of it.
4. we should use less vehicles, or at least use the ones which are powered by sustainable energy.
5. we must use more sustainable energy in every way we can.
That said, for years, the boy and the seagull spoke to all the people who lived in their town, they spread the message to every person they could contact, using even the internet so that everyone could improve their own cities following their rules. So now, the boy has grown up with his beloved friend seagull, who became really famous among all the birds for saving their unsustainable town.
Tim is now a wise man, and he never causes trouble for the environment. He also became an important man in his city, because he saved it with Jimmy. They made a promise to each other: they would never let anyone suffer because of the pollution and they would be friends forever.
< Thank you, Jimmy. I wouldn’t have been able to turn this city into the beautiful one it is today without your help, and your presence. You inspired me. You’re the best friend I could’ve ever asked for >
The seagull felt very emotional at that moment, he was ready to cry.
< You’re a good human, Tim. I’m grateful it was you who saved me that day >
At this point the boy was about to cry too, smiling at his old friend and looking him in the eyes which sparkled with joy and love.
< I’m really proud of you, and the man you’ve grown up to be >
said finally the seagull, then his eyes travelled to look at the sun which was setting near the sea, offering a scenery full of beautiful shades of red, orange, purple and yellow.
With one last smile, Jimmy took flight in the air, his white feathers glowing with the warm colors of the sky, diving now into his loved waters reflecting all those pretty shades too.
The ocean was now finally clean and safe, and Jimmy was finally feeling alive for real.
Hydropower, know as a water power, is the use of falling or fast-running water to produce electricity or to power machines this is achieved by converting the gravitational potential or kinetic energy of a water source to produce power.
Hydropower is a method of sustainable energy production
Wind energy or wind power is the use of wind turbines to generate electricity.
is a renewable energy and is sustainable.
wind farm consist of many individual wind turbines, which are connected to the electric power trasmission network.

Solar power is energy from the sun that is converted into thermal or electrical energy.
Solar energy is the most cleanest and abundant reneweable energy source available
Solar technologies can harness this energy for a variety of uses, including generating electricity, providing light and heating water.
We move with vehicles and this causes transportation problems:
-The cars and trucks exhaust pollute the air
-Fossil fuels aren't infinite so we'll probably run out of them in the future
-Many vehicles cause noise pollution

How can we reduce pollution caused by transportantions?
There are some ways to help the environment and reduce the pollution:
-
- You can use your bike when it is possible. It is good for environment and for your health!
- Walk by foot when you can, like when you go by bike it is good for your health.
- Take public transports like bus. They are good for enviroment because there are 30/40 people and they are only in a vehicle.
