I dedicate this book to my mom and my dad who always make me feel loved.

Once upon a time, two brothers lived with their Mother in a cottage in the middle of an enchanted forest protected by a wise fairy.

The older brother’s name was Tom, and the younger brother was Dave. Each of them had an extraordinary power of his own. Tom is super strong, and Dave can touch fire without getting hurt.

Mother loved both of them, but she was quite sad because the brothers did not like helping each other. Not a single bit did they like doing things together. When Mother needed them to do things around the house, they always avoided working together. She told them that helping each other would get things done better and faster, but the brothers just didn’t like the idea of lending each other a hand.

Everyday before sunrise, Mother left the cottage and went into the forest to gather wild fruits and vegetables to put in their meals. Everytime she went out, she also left a note for Tom and Dave giving them chores and telling them to prepare everything that she needed for cooking. She always said that Tom and Dave should work together to finish everything before she came home.

Sadly, the chores were always half done when she got home. This went on until one day, she just didn’t know what to do anymore to make the brothers learn how to help each other. Her heart just felt really sad, and she went into her room and cried out loud.

Tom and Dave heard Mother crying, so they followed her to check on her. Once they got inside her room, they saw that it was empty and Mother was not there. Tom and Dave just looked at each other with so much confusion.

Suddenly, the wise fairy appeared in front of them. “Tom and Dave, I have been watching you, and I can see that you have made your Mother really sad. All she wants is for you to help each other. Why do you find it so hard to work together?” the fairy said. Tom and Dave couldn’t answer.

The fairy continued, “I cannot let you break her heart anymore. So, I’m taking her away from you.” Tom blurted, “Oh, please don’t do that, wise fairy! Don’t take our Mother away from us.” Dave also pleaded, “We are sorry. We didn’t realize we were already breaking her heart. Please, bring her back. We promise we will change.” The wise fairy answered, “I am giving you a chance to see your Mother again, but you need to pass the test that I am going to give you.”

Suddenly their surroundings transformed. Tom and Dave found themselves standing in front of a cave with a big burning rock blocking the entrance. “Your Mother is in that cave. You need to get inside so you can be with her again. I’m only giving you three minutes to remove the rock. You have to help each other,” said the fairy, and then she disappeared.
