One of the nearest galaxies to Earth is
called the Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical
Galaxy. It is 70,000 light years away from
the Earth. Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical. It
is in a polar orbit around the Milky Way
50,000 light years away from its center.
This Galaxy is located within the
Sagittarius constellation.
What are the two closest galaxies to
Earth?

The Second Galaxy is the Maffei 1, is the closest known
giant elliptical galaxy to our the Milky Way Galaxy, being
only about 10 million light-years. Typical of large
ellipticals, it comprises mainly old stars, many over 10
billion years old, with some new star formation occurring
in a small nucleus. The Maffei is about 3/4 the size of the
full Moon. It was discorvered by The Italian astronomer
Paolo Maffei during 1950's and 60's.

Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy
is one of the closest
Irregular Galaxies to the
milky way, being about
25,000
Light years from The
Milky Way.
The Canis Major Dwarf
Galaxy was discovered in 2003 when
astronomers analyzed infrared images of
the Milky Way.Some Stars from Canis
Major Dwarf Galaxy are inside the Milky
Way, and more are coming!

The Large Magellanic Cloud
Has a pronounced central bar, and probably
started as a Barred Spiral, and became
disrupted by interactions with the Milky Way
and the Smaller Magellanic Cloud. 14,000 light-
years diameter of the Milky Way (14,000 light-
years) with about 10% of the mass. It
contains at least one billion stars, and large
quantities of dust and gas leading to the
current wave of intense star formation.

The Orion Nebula is the closest nebula to
Earth. It is located in the constellation of
Orion, is visible with the naked eye, and is
about 1,344 light-years from Earth.
The Milky Way?

This is the Orion Nebula!
Helix Nebula is a large planetary nebula located
in the constellation Aquarius. Discovered by
Karl Ludwig Harding, probably before 1824, this
object is one of the closest to the Earth of all
the bright planetary nebulae. It is about 700
light-years away from the Milky Way.

Closest Star Types to Earth?
Groombridge 34
Is a binary star system located about 11.7
light years from our own Sun. It consists
of two red dwarf stars in a nearly circular
orbit with a separation

There !!
SIRIUS!
It is a binary star in the constellation Canis Major.
Its distance from the solar system is about 8.6
light-years, only twice the distance of the nearest
known star beyond the Sun.
