The chapel of Saint George is a beautiful chapel.
It is located in a village in the area of Kozani.
It is such a beautiful chapel that every year thousands of worshipers visit it.
In the past, there was only one disadvantage.
There weren't any trees around it to make its beauty complete.
There was not even one tree which could give the worshipers the chance to find protection from the hot sun in summer.
This beautiful chapel was located in a completely bald landscape,
a mountain without any greenery.

An inhabitant of the village, a man suffering from a severe mental disease, has been taking care of the place around the chapel trying to green it and to make the beauty of the landscape complete.
He is a man who usually doesn't remember anything and walks around with wooden movements. The one and only thing he remembers is the way from his home to the chapel. He walks to the chapel every day and when he arrives there, he plants two or three new trees like an agriculturist.
Of course, this is not the only thing he does.
He spends a lot of time taking care of the trees he has planted.
He prunes them and fertilizes the trees.
It is really strange that this man who has no knowledge at all and furthermore suffers from a severe mental disease, waits for the roving vendor who visits the village every Tuesday.
He patiently waits for him to buy the necessary seedlings.
He spends his whole pension on buying seedlings to transform the area around the chapel into a little paradise.
In the past a lot of villagers tried to play tricks on him and to deceive him. They used to ask the roving vendor to stop his van and sell his goods in a different place than the usual one, so that the man could not find him. But the man would look for him everywhere and he always found him.
They hid the tools he used for digging the soil, but he would still manage by digging the soil with his bare hands.
Nothing could stop him. Seeing all this, the villagers decided to stop playing tricks and they agreed that it was God's will for this man to give life to this parched mountain which shelters the beautiful chapel.
Since then, everyone respects him and he continues greening the landscape around the chapel by planting flowers, trees and herbs.
They are all as beautiful as the heart of this man who plants them and takes care of them.
