According to different parts of the year we have different traditions in Ploiesti Prahova , Romania.

JANUARY~

We have carols related to St. Vasile , Plugusorul and Sorcova. 

Priests come and bless people's homes with holy water. 

On Boboteaza Day unmarried 

girls can dream their future

husband.

FEBRUARY

We celebrate the Romanian Valentine's day called Dragobete on 24th February. 

MARCH

March is a spring month and we celebrate it by offering Martisoare. 

  We eat Mucenici, a sweet type of traditional food.

APRIL

    To fool or to be fooled on April Fools Day is a worldwide tradition. We also celebrate it.

    The night before 23rd April people should be aware of poltergeists , that is why we eat garlic!

MAY

    In April-May we celebrate Easter, our biggest Christian celebration. Christ is resurrected and we are all saved.

    At Easter we paint eggs and we cook Pască.

JUNE

In June we celebrate Drăgaica , Cap de vară , or The Birth of St Ioan Botezatorul. You need to gather and bless flowers , that protect you from bad luck. After St Petru on 29th of June , you can eat apples. 

 JULY

On St Ilie , we gather flowers and we enjoy summer to its fullest. Children have a holiday and they go to the Sea or to the mountains. 

AUGUST

On 15th August we celebrate St Mary the Virgin, and it's one of our biggest celebrations. People dress in white, go to church and enjoy the last month of summer.

SEPTEMBER

 In September school starts and all pupils are happy to see their classmates. 

  In this autumn month people produce grapes juice and make a whole celebration out of it.

October

   Assist to St. Paraschiva's fairs, on 14th October and taste and buy cheese and mutton. 

    On 26th and 27th October, we celebrate St. Dumitru and we commemorate those who are dead. We go to church and we make coliva.

November 

    On November 8th we celebrate St. Archangels Michael and Gabriel, who are "guardians of people from birth to death,". And on November 30th St. Andrew, the equivalent of Halloween. Now sprout the wheat and as it grows until the New Year you will find out if the coming year is good or not.

December 

    On 1st December we celebrate our National Day.

       In 1918 Romania Mare was formed.
