He lived happily with his family and relatives on
the icy continent of Antarctica.

PENGU was concerned that the consequences of
global warming and climate change would reach
Antarctica, a continent without humans. Glaciers
were melting and habitats were shrinking.
They would soon begin to experience food shortages.
If it went on like this, their habitat would be completely destroyed. For this he had to act.
He heard that there were young people doing pole projects in Etwining and decided to visit them.

During his visits, he would talk to young people about global warming and climate change and tell them about Antarctica.

PENGU first visited ITT "G. Giorgi" di Brindisi, school in Italy. There he answered students' questions. Ersilia MEO's and A. Paola DI TURO's teams hosted PENGU very well.

Hello, here I am in Brindisi, Puglia,
in the south of Italy

My family and I were invited by the students of 2^ A, Electronics Course, because they are working on environmental problems with their Biology teacher, Ms Angela Paola Di Turo, and their Polar Project partners.

Here they are!
Italian students interviewed me asking about our life in Antarctica, which unfortunately is becoming a non-liveable place. In fact, the increase of the temperature is causing the glaciers melting.

Furthermore, there are also pollution problems! Lots of plastic is contaminating our sea and some of its particles look like fish so our babies eat them. This is dangerousfor our life.
PLEASE,
save our SEA!!!
Another problem is people coming to Antarctica to study our land. Noise, drilling, photos…all this disturbs our calm daily routine.

Marine protected areas

Brindisi is on the sea and here there are some protected areas, like Torre Guaceto.

I'd like to live here with my family
but it's...too hot for us...

Bye, bye Brindisi.
Let's go to Istanbul.
The second school PENGU visited was Private Mürüvvet Evyap Schools in Istanbul. He answered students' questions. Bilal Hatipoğlu's teams hosted PENGU nicely and showed Turkish hospitality.

Hello there
This time, I am in Istanbul, one of the largest and most historical cities in the world, located in the north-east of Turkey.

I was invited to Istanbul Sarıyer with my family by a group of students working within the scope of a project called "Polar Project" with their science teacher Bilal Hatipoğlu at Private Mürüvvet Evyap Schools.

Here is that hardworking team and their teacher I was talking about.

They showed me the board they prepared, their posters and their work.

Hello, I am Pengu from Antarctica.
And they introduced me to their other friends
They interviewed me and asked if I had relatives in the Arctic. I told them that penguins only live in Antarctica, which is located at the South Pole.
Another student asked if you were cold in Antarctica. I explained that we do not feel cold thanks to the thick layer of oil on our skin and our hair.

In class, students asked me why penguins waddle. I explained to them that our legs are short, so we walk this way in order not to waste much energy.

Although walking is difficult, we usually prefer swimming. We also need to pull our legs inside our bodies to avoid the cold of the South Pole, and short legs are very useful for this.

Finally, they asked if there were enough people dealing with the problems faced by penguins and trying to find solutions to them.
Of course, I don't think enough people are dealing with and struggling with problems, unfortunately they forget that we share the same environment.
But seeing children like you gives me hope for the future.

Thank you for everything Istanbul. My next stop will be Aydın

This time I went to AYDIN. Hello Aydin and his team.

The eTwinning team made me feel very welcome.

Global warming is destroying my habitat and the other arctic creatures that live here. My fellow students say this to everyone. With the eTwinning project.

I left Aydın by thanking the teachers and students of Nazilli Atatürk High School.

Hello this time I'm in Ankara ,the capital of Türkiye
I visited Cezeri Green Technology High School, the first renewable energy education school in Turkey that produces its own energy.

students asked the importance of renewable energy for us

One of the main causes of climate change is the use of non-renewable energy sources. Renewable energy is energy derived from sources such as the sun, biomass, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, and the ocean. It is known that these systems have less environmental damage than different systems using fossil fuels. For this reason, it is very important for us to increase the systems using renewable energy sources

I would like to thank this eco-friendly school and the climate ambassadors of the future.

Penguin Pengu "Welcome" to Ankara. Advisör: Nilüfer Lafcı

Thank you!

As Akdere Anatolian High School The Polar Project Environmental Awareness project team, we will attend the Eco Climate Summit with Pengu.

What was the presentation that caught Pengu's attention the most during this visit?

First of all, I am very happy that you young people are climate ambassadors. I am very hopeful about the coming days.

project student

Pengu, for all creatures living in the poles; We promise to give importance to recycling and minimize our carbon and plastic footprint. We: Climate Ambassadors
