Adriana was an 11-year-old junior high school student. He woke up at 7 a.m because he had school. He fixed his bed. She changed her clothes. She went to the bathroom to wash her face. There was no water flowing when he turned on the tap. She went to her parents, who were preparing breakfast in the kitchen. She said that there was no running water in the bathroom, she could not wash her hands and face. His father said he received a message from the municipality. I can't find any water today. He said that there is a small amount of water, it will not be enough until the evening. He added that they should use their water sparingly.

There would be no water in the house all day that day, and life without water meant an unimaginably difficult day, so they decided to go out and take a nature walk and went to the forest nearby.Perhaps for the first time, the children were very excited as they would have the opportunity to closely examine the plants, trees and animals in the forest.

Together with Adriana, her parents, her father and her brother Carlos, they began to walk around the wooded area, which is located 30 km from their home. They also study the types of plants they see while browsing. They were asking their parents about the names of plants. It was very pleasant for them to discover new things; to chase butterflies flying dec the plants.  Adriana and her family came to a waterside after a little walk. After so much beauty, they were stunned by the sight they saw.

Adriana could not hide her surprise, the water level had dropped by half. The grass on the side of the tree was dry, the fish were dying, this made him very sad, he wanted to help the fish because he knew what thirst was, but he didn't know what to do. In the morning his father came to look for the municipality for water. He told his father that we should help the fish. His brother got into the water and tried to throw some fish where the water was too high. they started to think about why the water was getting low, then they all started walking towards the source of the water, moving forward in curiosity. 

After walking for a while, they see a factory  near the source of the water. The factory was using the water too much. So there wasn't enough water for other living things. Thus the other living things are about to die. Adriana and her parents were very sad to see this scene.They decided to talk with the authority of the factory. They called them and they gave an apppointment  to meet them.

Adriana, her father and brother met with the authorities and told them about the situation. They were wondering how to manage to solve the problem. Adriana and her brother had some pictures taken there. There were fish,  yellow and dry trees and grass. The authorities were surprised and  thanked them for information. They said they would install some filters in the factory and wouldn't take water from the river and the lake in the future. They said that they needed some time to do it.

        The factory owner did not keep his word. Day after day, it continued to take water from the lake and river in the same way and did not have a filter installed. A few days later, Adriana and her family went back to the same place and found that the problem was not resolved. They decided to do something about it. Adriana and Carlos started a petition to collect signatures.

Adriana and  Carlos, after collecting the signatures,  took to the Municipality  the petition and the pictures  showing the dangers to the whole ecosystem.

The mayor decided that if they did not put filters  in the factory, it would be closed.

The two brothers were very happy with the mayor's  decision and left full of hope.

The factory owners were surprised at first to hear the news. Then they tried to appeal, but they didn't have the authority to appeal. Then they had to close the factory and move it somewhere else.  Adriana and Carlos were thrilled to hear that. The river was slowly recovering. Carlos and Adriana were making progress.

When the factory moved, Adriana and Carlos were happy but, after a while, they started to think that somewhere else it would caused problems again… 

It would be better if factories had stopped to use and pollute water but the mayor had said that people needed products from factories… at the same time, farmers couldn’t stop using pesticides and chemical fertilizers… they should have learn how to create and use natural ones…

The two brothers understood that no petitions, no collections of signatures could solve the problem and give back fresh, clean water… 

Only a real knowledge of nature laws could help them to plan sustainable activities, so Adriana decided to become a ecologist and founded an association to tke care of enviroment and Carlos became an engineer, designed and built machines and systems to purify and recycle water. He won the Nobel prize with his inventions!
