This story is dedicated to Bolt, the inspiration behind the book.

There was once a duck named Dan, and Dan lived in the glorious Central Park Zoo. Every day he would swim in his favorite fountain.

It was his favorite fountain because he had lots of swimming room, and close by there was a popcorn machine that he always got the little kids to feed him from.

One day, while dan was swimming and minding his own business, he heard a great roaring sound. Mama Tiger was crying from her pen, across from the fountain.

My baby cub!! He's escaped into the park!!

Escaped?!?
Dan couldn't believe it. How could the baby escape?

He ran out through a tiny hole, but I'm not small enough to go after him. Whatever am I going to do?

Dan felt sorry for Mama Tiger but he really didn't know what to do.

I know! You can go over the wall and find him.

ME?!?
Dan couldn't believe what he was hearing. He certainly didn't think he could find the baby cub in the big and scary Central Park.

Yes You. I know you can do it. You just have to believe in yourself.

Well I guess.
Dan still wasn't a hundred percent sure but he knew that Mama Tiger was very wise and wouldn't send him out if she didn't think he could do it

So, Mama Tiger jumped up as far as she could on the wall and Dan walked up and hopped over the fence. He would've flown but he didn't know how.

Dan gracefully landing on some bushes on the other side of the fence and looked out in the vast Central Park
Dan had no idea where to even start looking.
Baby Tiger could be anywhere.

Suddenly Dan heard a flapping noise coming close to him.
Who is that?

Hi! My name is Christian.
Hi Christian! My name is Dan. Dan the Duck

I'm so glad I've run into you Christian.
Oh? Why's that?

Dan explained the whole story of the lost baby tiger to Christian and told him that he was very scared to be alone looking for him in the park, when he had never been in the park himself.

Well I can help you look for the baby tiger! I know my way around the park because I live here.

Dan was relieved. He thought there was actually a chance to find the baby tiger and take him back home to Mama Tiger.

Christian called some of his other bird friends and they flew through the sky over the park looking for any sign of the baby tiger.

While Dan was down on the ground looking in bushes and between trees, Christian flew down with exciting news.

We found him! We found him! He's been hiding on the playground.

WEEEEE!

Baby Tiger! We found you! You have to come home now.
But I've climbed up this ladder and I can't get down. I need help.

Dan knew that he needed to help the baby tiger but he was scared to climb the ladder because he might fall and he didn't know how to fly.

Christian can you help him down? I am too scared.
He is too heavy for me. You have to face your fear. You can do it!

Dan was very scared, but he knew that he couldn't leave without saving the baby tiger, so he made his way over to the ladder and slowly started to climb up.
